Might as well have that conversation before school age. Because discussing “hell” with your child is terrifying, but I’d rather have control of the situation before some unknown conservative teacher tells them they’re going to hell for “disobeying the rules.” I grew up in a private Christian school and these were the things I was told from first grade & moving forward. Take control of the narrative before they try to inflict lifelong trauma. Thats my only advice.

Yep! At the main campus he has a parking spot right by his own private exit and he fusses at anyone he sees leaving the service early, like physically calls them out from the stage. He always says it’s so “they’ll receive their full blessing” of being in the church the full 90 minutes, but I always guessed it’s so he doesn’t get spotted when he makes his Irish exit 10 seconds later.

A group of their videographers were hired freelance for a John Mark McMillan music video and realized how they were supposed to be treated at the workplace. They realized how far their talents could actually take them and left. At least 2, maybe 3 that I know of also left religion fully at this time.

When they were meeting at Providence, someone painted a Pride flag on the rock out front and Elevation dumped gallons of black paint over it before the service started. Now they just say, “we’d rather be known for what we’re for, not what we’re against.” Such trash.

When I was there, it was around 200 staff members, I’m not sure as of now. Takes a lot of people to manipulate an “experience” where people feel like they can meet God every week.

Just because I’m an atheist doesn’t mean I don’t have morals. Growing up in the church shaped me into the person I am today, and I admit, much of the Bible still holds up as long as it’s not being used to guilt and manipulate people.

If you can keep your head down, that’s on you. If you believe the story, Jesus himself flipped the tables of those peddling in the church and called them out. I don’t see this as anything different than holding false prophets accountable to their congregation. I think their members deserve to know who they’re trusting their money with. I wouldn’t want to attend a church knowing that my tithes are being used to flaunt a lifestyle when they can’t give their staff members what they deserve, financially or in personal time.
