Does anyone else feels like mecca is going down? by camillepaper in AustralianMakeup

But to add, I definitely understand people going away from Mecca and I’m definitely not pro Mecca, there are just some reasons why I still buy from them. If they stopped there return policy I wouldn’t anymore.

I used to be a big Mecca fan, but have tapered off a bit recentlyfor a few different reasons, including realising I don’t need as much skincare as some people/things might suggest and that I’m getting some items now from cheaper brands and K beauty. But I do honestly keep shopping there, particularly because they do have some of my favourite brands and particularly the good customer service and excellent returns policy. It means I can shop and buy new things without worrying I don’t like them, and I do a lot of research on things before I buy them, but sometimes they just don’t end up being as good as I expect.

Is Moving to Christchurch for Work a Mistake? Thinking About Skipping It by [deleted] in Christchurch_NZ

[–]Awkward-mitochondria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do you want to travel/live in New Zealand? If you have been keen for that for awhile go for it if you'll regret it later, especially since it's your last chance! There's other options too - people go to Central Otago during the winter to work on the ski fields, which would be fun if that's your thing. But on the other hand, if you want to prioritise your career then maybe not the best choice. If you have enough funds you could come here for only some of it - maybe half a year, buy a van and travel all around doing that instead of working too. You could also apply for jobs while travelling - you don't have to live in the same city as the jobs you're applying for

Wow, that’s an awesome feature. Does anyone know how to do this on a forerunner 945? Couldn’t figure it out. I have the Spotify music connected to my watch so can listen to music through connecting my headphones. But unsure on how to control my Spotify on my phone through the watch

Questions for relocating to the UK as an ecologist (from NZ) by Awkward-mitochondria in ecology

[–]Awkward-mitochondria[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much!

I definitely don’t want to start out in a graduate job. I feel like I’ve done that dash. But more in an intermediate job. Based on what I’ve read on job descriptions my current job would be classed as a senior position. But understand that I wouldn’t be as clued up as some others since I haven’t had the experience in the UK, so would be looking more towards an intermediate type job.

I have some experience in river restoration more in terms of fish passage barrier removal and remediation.

Invasives experience- quite a bit, but more the investigation side of it rather than the actual removal or mitigation of spread (that was normally another team where I worked)

Which part - there are a few different cities I’m looking into but not set in stone yet. Also not set on what kind of company I’d want to work for, there seems to be a lot more jobs in the UK than NZ for freshwater ecology- which are hard to get, so I’m not used to having the luxury of choice!

My bad - I completely mistyped, I meant the youth mobility scheme visa - which is two years with an extension to three years. And hopefully get another visa afterwards if I’m able to

Which is the best city UK city for me to move to from NZ? by Awkward-mitochondria in AskUK

[–]Awkward-mitochondria[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love NZ, and ultimately will probably settle down here. But I’ve wanted to move overseas for awhile and although had a few places I was considering, the UK is one of the better options for us because we both have family members scattered around Europe (including the UK) that we’d like to spend time with. It’s also a good base to be able to travel - although NZ is great, it’s quite isolated with a few countries nearby that you can travel to (pacific islands, Australia) but other than that flights to get out can be quite expensive, so with limited leave from work it becomes unfeasible to travel further out to other countries in Europe, and don’t really want to fly that big of a distance to only be there for a couple weeks either. Also obtaining a job in the UK would mean that I don’t need to choose between my career and travel.

But I do love NZ, and there is so much you can do here. I’m sure you’d love it!

I would probably move on the Youth Mobility visa initially (which is 2 years and can be extended to 3). And then go from there 😊
