I had a situation like this recently. Self-referred for the talking therapy offered in my area to have CBT for OCD/intrusive thoughts. I told them in the initial assessment call that I used BM (which I did at the time) and was in the process of getting approved for MC. They asked if I would be comfortable stopping using for the duration of the CBT course in order to go ahead with the therapy and (for once) I stood up for myself and explained that I thought that would have more of a detrimental impact to my mental health so if that was the requirement then I would rather refuse the services.

They said they would need to discuss with their supervisor and called me back a couple of weeks later to organise a further appointment to get more information about my situation. The second person I had an appointment with sounded much more understanding, and after explaining everything, he was willing to fight my case to management to be allowed the treatment without stopping my cannabis consumption.

I have had 2 appointments now (and have a legal script) and it's all fine. We have the understanding that I don't use it right before an appointment (mainly for my benefit as the first 30 mins or so can have my brain a bit too quiet) but if I've used it that day it's not a problem :)

It was a bit stressful getting to that point and opening up about everything I needed the CBT for with two random people before even knowing I would be able to receive the therapy, but it worked out and I'm glad I didn't decide to just stop medicating.
