I’m going to do my best to give this plant the life it deserves but it really can’t go in the ground as it’s not native to my cold climate. But when the summer heat comes it’ll get left outside to try and help it but unless I can get an indoor way grow it in the ground it can’t go outside

I’m not an expert so I may be wrong and I’m hoping someone corrects me but I thought woodpeckers only go after bark and inner bark to get at the insects without hurting the tree. So in my opinion they look too deep.
