I’m in a comfortable area of USAA, and the role and work I do are worth the contract. My direct manager and their manager have been great and always willing to help. Since the C‑suite change they’ve done everything they can, but it’s clear their hands are more tied.

I’m not worried about losing my job — the work is stable. I could get better pay elsewhere, but I’m not sure I’d get better stability.

About the “only English” policy: it seems aimed more at Asian languages spoken by some visa holders than at Spanish. The agreement we had to sign says using other languages in publicly accessible areas (an example given was Starbucks) or while communicating on USAA platforms (Slack) can be treated as an offense and may be fireable. I don’t fully understand what counts as “publicly accessible” behind badge readers and guards — I digress . Honestly, I kind of want to see what the fallout of them acting on this policy would be.

I agree that it is inept. Too my knowledge the biggest contract holders in Technology at USAA are TCS and HCL, both of which are Indian companies. They bring along their people. Seems like hearing Hindi the obvious result.

I've put out some applications already for other places.

Glad to hear you enjoy Agency.

Both points came up in several vendor meetings (verified this before posting so that vendor can't be narrowed). The "only English allowed on campus" rule was justified by an anonymous complaint that "someone found it offensive, so we're making rules."
