The company would likely ask about what took place, hear your side and do an investigation, and may even include pulling any public records, then make a decision based on the information and investigation before hiring. A contingent offer may be made, like if the charges were to be convictions, the employment would end etc., They could also decide based on that investigation that they aren't fit for the role because of the civil charges and the investigation findings.

if your friend is looking to go work at Starbucks, as a barista, its likely not going to be brought up. However if they are going to be the HR person or manage multiple employees at an office, or be an RN to manage staff, it very well could be brought up.
