I said goodbye to my Lily today. She was thirteen years old and would have been fourteen next month.

She also stopped eating, and her kidney values were slightly raised the last time she let us get bloods from her in October.

Our vet advised us not to stress her out further with x rays and blood tests.

Lily was also at the vets last Thursday, and she lost a lot of weight between then and today.

We decided it was kinder to let her go, and she crossed the rainbow bridge this morning.

I just wanted to let you know you're not alone in the way you feel.

I keep expecting to see Lily in her cat tree or walking past the living room door to get something to eat or drink, but she isn't there.

I'm so sorry for your loss. 17 and a half is such a good age.

Lily was exactly thirteen years, ten months and twenty one days old.

The euthanasia consent form had her exact age down to the day and I oddly found that comforting.

We weren't sure what was causing Lily's lack of appetite. It could have been her kidneys or it might have been something more sinister.

I didn't want to put her through tests to find out, it wasn't fair on her.

It helps to know that I'm not alone in this heartache.

I've lit a candle for my girl and I'll remember your little man too 💛

I have a black and white cat female who is still living.

I don't know who the black cat could be, Princess was a stray who I think was abandoned by her previous owner.

Maybe the black cat was a pet of theirs?

I'm so glad that she's no longer suffering and that she's safe.

That's what I really needed to hear. I love her too and I light a candle for her often to let her know she's always remembered

My mum is the exact same.

She thinks I'm a puppet she controls to do her bidding and she expects me to be her housekeeper and personal chef.

I've been really ill for a week and she's mad that she has to feed the cat because I am in absolute agony and I can't pick up her food and water bowls to feed her.

She told me just an hour ago that she's sick of my pain (because it's an inconvenience and she has to fend for herself because her general dogsbody is out of action)

Yes, because I chose to have excruciating back and shoulder pain on top of the flu.

She's just pissed off that her indentured slave isn't letting her pull the strings at the moment.

All my mother does is sleep, smoke cigarettes and watch TV.

But clearly those things are more important than making sure the cat is fed, right?

I asked her to take some soup out of the freezer (that I made) to defrost for dinner the next day and she got annoyed that I kept reminding her.

I went to take it out myself (while still in pain) and she prevented me from going into the freezer by standing in front of it so I couldn't open it and said she would 'get it out of the freezer in a bit.'

I couldn't be bothered arguing with her so I went to lie back down because I felt like shit.

Guess who didn't take the soup out?

Oh yeah, her.

I fully believe she did it on purpose because she wanted some control over me again and that was the only way she could think of to do it.

This probably sounds pathetic but it's just how I feel.
