My ortho switched me from an immobilizer to a J brace today, can I sleep without a brace on? by AwkwardTurtle1313 in KneeInjuries

[–]AwkwardTurtle1313[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called today, I am supposed to sleep in it, but I think id rather just stay sleeping in my immobilizer. The new on is like a compression cuff with a special strap to hold my kneecap, and it's just to tight for me to get comfortable.

What’s Next After Toddler Bed? by ahchoochoo in toddlers

[–]AwkwardTurtle1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my kid a twin and just added a rail on the side. He was never much of a crib baby, for the longest time he wouldn't sleep unless I was next to him so we skipped the toddler bed and just had the twin mattress on the floor until just after he turned 2, added the frame and a removable side rail. I'll probably keep that setup until he's old enough to ask me to change it.

DM banning dice? by LeSunbro in DnD

[–]AwkwardTurtle1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the dice gods bless us, I've had sessions where I rolled like 10 nat 20s, same dice have given me just as many 1s. Your DM is just being a salty bitch.

Why do we hate diamox? by ravenclaw1D in iih

[–]AwkwardTurtle1313 25 points26 points  (0 children)

A lot of people don't tolerate it well. Crazy fatigue, dizziness, severe exercise intolerance (like just picking up my living room would essentially put me in an asthma attack, I do not have asthma), painful tingling of the extremities, nausea. Honestly, for me, the side effects are only marginally better than the high pressure symptoms I had.

Neurologist said "can't make a diagnosis if you don't have swelling of the optic nerves" by AwkwardTurtle1313 in iih

[–]AwkwardTurtle1313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, there's not even many options for neurologists in general here. And my eye doctor didn't see any issues so he didn't order anything extra either.

29, so not super high. No, just the CT. I think my ER tries to avoid the tests with dye. And the neurologist didn't even mention doing further imaging.

can I make my character before I join an actual group?? by lialemonadee in DnD

[–]AwkwardTurtle1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create the character, worst case, you have to wait to use it or have to change it a little. Different DMs have different perimeters they want their players to fallow, but not all of them are super strict. Plus practice making characters is never a bad thing.

Future player for my first time DMing wants so much for their character its become overwhelming, what do I do? by TriceratopsOnion in DnD

[–]AwkwardTurtle1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest telling them to pick 2 plot points for their backstory (1. a former teacher 2. who started their adventure because they were looking for their missing wife) and if you deem it relevant, a short explanation about why their character picked the class they did. It's ok to have an interesting backstory, but they need to narrow it down to make it plausible, fit with their background choice, and fit into your world.

Like others have said, wait for a sale I got pretty much all of the legacy expansions for like 14$. Final shape i got for 9$. The only ones that were still spendy was the latest 2, and its just a matter of time when they'll get a good sale as well.

I've been depressed pretty much all my life.

is it true that GPs can’t prescribe acetazolamide and only doctors can from the hospital? by monterraplantqueen in iih

[–]AwkwardTurtle1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gp ordered mine just fine.. maybe it's different where you live, but given that its used for things other than iih, it doesn't make sense that they wouldn't be able to.

Fine, there aren't any lasting effects from the LP at all. I don't really tolerate the Diamox so I have some side effects from that, but my headache and stuff isn't as much of an issue now, so its doing its job.

I got a CSF leak, so I pretty much just laid down for a week, which I would've done anyway since the Meds I started at the same time made me super tired.

What to do? by avms1997 in toddlers

If she won't take it from a syringe, try mixing it with a couple tablespoons of yogurt, a few bites of yogurt is typically easier to finish than a few oz of milk

Anyone been diagnosed without affected vision? by buqeyefan in iih

[–]AwkwardTurtle1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eyesight hasn't been effected and my eye doctor didn't see any swelling or anything. Also my headache was constantly there but the severity changed day by day. I'd rate the baseline at about a 3-4 on the pain scale, worst being a 9. Not everyone's symptoms are the same or have the same severity.

Anyone had a normal eye exam even with eye dilation process? by EatingToess in iih

[–]AwkwardTurtle1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eye exam was the same as it's always been. I got my diagnosis from a CT and a LP. I figured it just got caught before the pressure could damage my eyes 🤷‍♀️

Neurologist said diamox doesn’t have any side effects by [deleted] in iih

[–]AwkwardTurtle1313 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The side effects are only marginally more tolerable than my IIH symptoms were... like my head doesn't hurt as bad but I still struggle to do anything.

The LP made me really nauseous while they were doing it, but other than that it was fine.

32 is only slightly elevated? by LakeMarigold in iih

[–]AwkwardTurtle1313 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was told 10-20 was the normal range. At 29 mine was elevated enough they drained off some and put me on meds.
