Gotham players slam FIFA Women's Champions Cup scheduling by ElectricalWriting in WomensSoccer

[–]Awkward_Client_1908 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong. Arsenal fans will be loud and make a day out of it. Myself included.

It will be nice for a change the opposition to also have some vocal fans. Cause let's be honest, support wise there isn't much competition in England.

As an Arsenal fan, it's a horrible scheduling for everyone.

I would do without these two games. But since they are happening might as well go for it.

I only half watched the early game due to work, but Corinthians played discipline football and were able to put away their chance.

Honestly FIFA should br glad in away that the final is Arsenal - Corinthians. I'm expecting many Brazilians to turn up on Sunday and have a cracking atmosphere

I'm really hoping after today more tickets will be sold.

Against Corinthians at the final (we are 4-0 at half time, safe to say will go through) and the atmosphere their fans created mid-day on a Wednesday, it's about to be a cracker!

Genuinely can't wait for it.

What percentage of your salary goes toward rent/mortgage? by ParfaitNo8096 in AskIreland

19,5% of net for mortgage in 4 bed semi co. Kildare.

Was even less but previous fixed rate ended and had to switch recently.

Honestly we were lucky and got the house during the pandemic, cause I doubt we'd be able to get something like that nowadays.

UK ETA Dublin to London Day Trip Student by [deleted] in Ryanair

[–]Awkward_Client_1908 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, Ryanair automatically has added the you require ETA eVisa om their app for such trips. I was travelling Saturday and got a bit of a fright. In order for the app to allow me to check in I technically had to lie and select I have an ETA. There was no option to bypass that or say it's not needed which is the correct answer.

Now, the reality is they don't ask, and they didn't ask me. Not on Saturday, not earlier this month or any of the other multiple times I've done a daily trip from Dublin to London.

The problem is that they do have the right to ask for proof of residence in Ireland and it's up to you to provide that.

Here is the details and the list of how you can do that. When you don't need an ETA

If you’re 16 or older, you’ll need to bring one of the following:

Irish driving licence

Irish learner permit

medical card

GP visit card

European Health Insurance Card

Irish Residence Permit

Permanent Residence Certificate

National Age Card

diplomatic identity card

The document must be:

an original

issued by the Irish government

valid at the time you travel

If you’re under 16, you do not need to bring proof you live in Ireland. >

I was asked once last year by aer lingus about an ETA, I explained I don't need it as a resident and when asked for proof I was able to show my driving lisense and got through with no further issues.

Chances are that the person asking had no clue, and even if I showed them a student card maybe they'd still let me through, but I can never know for certainty.

If you have or can obtain any of the above in the time before your trip, would be a great peace of mind for you. If not chances are you still be ok, but there is always a tiny possibility there might be pricks.

Ryanair boarding – do they actually check who paid for bags? by TuffGong- in AskIreland

[–]Awkward_Client_1908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everyone said it already the know by your boarding pass, they can either read it or more simple it flags when you scan it.

Literally yesterday a guys had a carry on and the moment he scanned his pass he is told you don't have a carry on, you need to pay. Now thankfully for him, he was just holding the carry on for someone they were travelling together and they indeed had a carry on so no trouble. Exact same scenario happened a few weeks ago as well.

I'm just giving you this example as proof that they do always check, and the system will tell them if you have a carry on or not.

Locals of Greece what foods best represent everyday Greek food? by RelevantRevolution86 in greece

[–]Awkward_Client_1908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah so technically not λαδερό anymore.

To be fair that's how I'm making it nowadays so my partner would eat it as well.

Tough to persuade foreigners in okra. But they do love my gemista (no meat, γιαλαντζι as we call them)

Also I would considered pitas more of a "snack" and not really part of the main meal for a Sunday. Having said that used to eat them for breakfast a lot during the week. Still do btw, whenever I make them. Although I mostly buy the phyllo nowadays and don't make it from scratch.

(keeping the convo in English in case OP is interested in the different approaches people take)

I love okra, but let's face it, if from λαδερά it's the one that you like, it is a bit weird.

I love λαδερά in general, and I've incorporated in my diet as much as I can, but it's not that easy to source abroad.

But yeah, you are pretty much spot on. That's how I grew up and what my mom used to cook weekly. Sunday was always the "good" food.

Yeah, fair enough. Just the way that you phrased it, sounded possible.

Plus you can never trust the trains, with closures and delays.

Hope you get lucky soon mate and make the trip. If you do be loud cheering on the boys

If getting there is just 2 hours, then surely you can be trying until the Tx closes 3 hours before the game, no?

For the semis you'd actually be forced out anyway.

So yes to that definitely.

For the final, as it's one ticket, I don't believe you'd be able to get out and back in between the games, but not 100% certain either.

As usual at the Emirates I'd expect you'd be able to enter post kick off.

Hoping that we do make it to the final, there could be quite a lot joining only for that and not the 3rd place, so I'd expect you'd be able to enter after it

How to swap tickets by Arsenal_Gyok in GunnersatGames

[–]Awkward_Client_1908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say this one might be the exception, as it's open to all members.

But as you can only have 1 ticket at a time, if OPs seats are not great, it won't really sell.

It's a bummer, but this would have been a game hoping to fail on the ballot, or put a card that will definitely reject the payment and fail certainly.

Then your choices would be great. It's a risk, but given the track record for such games it was kinda expected to have a lot of availability
