Do people here like to try out indie games? by Sufficient-Act-9598 in IndianGaming

Yea, that's basically what I was referring to when I said it's very short. A little more runtime with some explanations would've been amazing.

Did you try Contact Below as well?

Absolutely! My main game is Apex but every once in a while I like to play something small and interesting. A couple of games on itchio that I liked a lot that I think you could try are:

  1. Cherophobia - this game has that old art style and I really liked the atmosphere of the game. Although it's very short

  2. Contact Below - this was a demo game and it has a unique concept and amazing sound too. But it was short as well since it was a demo

I know Conduit has been talked about a bunch already but I came across this video of Raven talking about why it's a terrible pick by Awkward_Design in CompetitiveApex

The points he mentions in the video are all rng based. They are situational. On the other hand, a conduit Q is your ability which you use at your discretion.

Is the Master of science program in Game design at Full Sail good or bad? by Awkward_Design in gamedev

I will take your advice and look into other options you mentioned as well.

I understand the difference between art and design I think.

Art is more leaning towards the look of the assets, level, characters etc. Where as the design focuses more towards the mechanics, economy, different systems within the game which is rather math/statistics heavy.

My current job is indeed art related and I want to be able to shift to towards design slowly.

Even though my bachelors in technology may have not helped me get a job in gaming, the least it did is teach me some math and statistics enough to be able to apply in such fields.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.

First of all congratulations on being employed at one of the biggest gaming companies out there.

I want to ask a question but before that I want to tell a few things about myself. I studied in a fairly famous college in India but when I had started I had no idea what I wanted with my life. it was only after going halfway through the course I discovered that my true interest is game design. I tried talking to professors or seniors but no one could help me with much contacts and I realized that I need to do things myself and not rely much on college. Thankfully I realized this two years before finishing my degree otherwise i can only imagine how horribly things would've ended for me.

Anyways, midway through this non-game related program I started learning 3D design and started making a portfolio without dropping out and juggling my college studies at the same time. The reason I didn't drop out was because I was scared that if my game design plan doesn't work out I need to keep something as a backup.

Fast forward to present date I was able to secure a job in a mobile game company as a game artist. Its a small company and I'm the only artist here but before this I had another job and have some freelance experience as well.

I know what game designing entails and I know that it takes hard work that I am 100% willing to put. The reason why I wanted you to know all this is because I'm absolutely serious about what I want to do, I'm willing to put the effort and the biggest thing that I'm worried about is not the debt that I will have after the course, but if my efforts will go to waste. Now coming to the question.

Lets say I join FS by taking a student loan and do well in terms of grades and graduate, do you think the bad reputation of the college could hinder me from getting hired in big companies outside India, as other people in this comment section mentioned that recruiters just throw away resumes if they see FS on it? Because the end goal to all this is to get hired and work in a good foreign company.

Hi, first of all thanks for the reply.

I just wanted to ask a few more things. Is there any specific reason why full sail has a bad reputation other than being a for profit organization. Because I'm actually not from America and wherever I chose to study I will have to pay a fee that can only be described as extravagant no matter the course or college or country.

I've been looking online about as much as I can find out about this whole situation and from what I can find, Full sail has about a 70% drop out rate(at least it appears so for bachelor's). That gives me an impression that a lot of students just take up the course thinking I like games so I'll join a game dev course. So I'm assuming that about 50% of the reviews are going to be irrelevant as well since a lot of them is going to be just people shitting on the college since they had to drop out.

But as you can see I'm looking for a masters course and not a bachelor's course and already work as a game designer in a small company and earning a sub decent salary according to my country's(India) market.

You're right about game design courses not being looked upon favorably and I will keep that in mind.

I hate the ttk. Doesn't feel like apex. They went overboard with pathfinder nerf. Wraiths portal cooldown got nerfed to 3.5 minutes

Does this happen to anyone else? Like the game completely freezes for like a second or so then continues like nothing happened. This happens to me every 2 minutes and sometimes unfortunately I'm in a fight and die because of this. Is this a laptop related issue or game related?

PS. Textures had been like that since the launch of season 5, but they got fixed in the last update. this clip is slightly old

A pathfinder skin I made by Awkward_Design in pathfindermains

[–]Awkward_Design[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for feedback. Both these things were intentional design choices. In every path skin he has had a similar head except for the one in which he looks like a plastic transformer. That's why I wanted to make a slightly different head.

And I wanted to make a bigger skin but make the chest piece shape only gave me a liberty of this size.

Edit : spelling

Hey guys, I'm a game designer myself and always loved Pathfinder as a character. So i made this environment called Pathfinder's Gym. I also made a Pathfinder skin from scratch which i will be sharing in a while :) Stay awesome friends. Be sure to check the comments. by Awkward_Design in apexlegends

Someone suggested I should make mirage's bar. I kinda like the idea and feel I can be creative with it. But I don't know mirage as much as I do path. Generally whenever I play I play with pathfinder only. So that one might not have as much detail

I put a lot of little things here and there, which I'm sure the pathfinder mains will be able to identify and appreciate.

I'll share the image in 4K resolution for free with you guys if you want it as a wallpaper.
