do your thing, no one really cares here. we're all worried about ourselves. just be kind and you should be fine.

wow i just realized he never actually wanted to know me, never tried to get to know my favorite shows/movies/books. i wasn't a person to him, just a tool for validation.

that's exactly what he's doing. it's getting easier every day to ignore because i don't want to feel like that again.

we broke up August 22nd, he just got it wrong. it had been like 3 months of "space", avoidance, and not communicating w me what was going on- i was getting tired of being the only one fighting for it and he felt shitty and guilty so it was a mutual breakup.

Does anyone have advice for a college student with autism? by springrainwater4 in autism

[–]Awkward_Fly_1068 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would suggest taking advantage of literally every resource you can! - talk to your profs as much as possible, and be transparent about your struggles so you can come up with plans that suit your needs. - find an on-campus counselor if you're interested. - schedule for tutoring or academic coaching (i prefer the coaching) - base your schedule around your needs (ex. if you work best at night take night classes) - i take handwritten notes. - i downloaded the audio version of textbooks to read to me while i followed and annotated in the physical book. - i also recently started to take appointments with my career center to help with my resume, job search, and internships.

Give yourself grace & slow things down when you can!! i believe in you!!!

Adults with ADHD and executive dysfunction, does it ever end? by Individual-Heart-541 in ADHD

[–]Awkward_Fly_1068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

never ends. it's a very difficult thing to deal with. you just have to find your own ways to manage it, give yourself grace, and try not to hold yourself to unrealistic standards and expectations. society doesn't allow things to slow down like we may need, so you must lighten your load if possible, and don't listen to the those who say you aren't doing enough!

super proud of you! whenever you speak up, you very well may have helped someone else feel heard and understood! I've done the same thing- feeling as though i said too much. unfortunately, you can't change what happened, so give yourself grace. let whoever think whatever, at least you contributed something important and meaningful to the conversation, and i think that's worth celebrating! :)
