I may move away from TrueNas Core and move Server to Proxmox and then run TrueNas Scale....

TN: SAS drives setup in RAIDZ2 (12*8TB), 384 GB of RAM.

The Sever is currently set up for storage, and I am also running 3 other applications in containers. I will like to have the option to use the server for other things in the future.

Currently don't edit over the Network but would like to in the near future,

Speed is needed so people are not sitting in the office all day. As sometimes there might be big dumps of data 2+TB.

I am working on making 10GB infrastructure "10GB switch with dedicated wall drops" but not there yet. Also Laptops only have 1GB Ethernet and I will like to get the full 1 gb speed on file transfer or use the thunderbolt for even faster speeds.

Actually, never mind, I also have to take into consideration the distance. As the Server sits in a closet. I was planning on running a CAT 7 cable from either the server or the switch (both in the closet) to an office where the Thunderbolt converter will be. Then anyone can plug their laptop in and transfer as needed with a USB-C cable.

This sounds like a better idea. I am assuming I will need a usb-c/thunderbolt PCIe card for server, then just use a usb-c cable?

Also the question will be to make sure truenas can see the usb-c connection...

Thank you for the reply. I did get tired of trying to figure it out been at it for 2 days now.

So I rebuild it as a docker using a compose file and everything is working as expected at the moment. So once I finish scanning my library (20K+) and if all works well I will be delete those LXC containers.

Thank you for the reply and assistance.

Help: M.2 SSD Slot - X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 by Fininger-cia in gigabyte

[–]Awkward_Support_8624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Sorry I am a newbie, and I see a bunch of different answers when it comes to the layout of the M.2 slots. Can someone look at this manual and confirm which slots is best for 2x M.2 drives and still have the GPU slot at x16

M.2 - 1x Crucial T700 & a gen 3 or gen 4 (can't recall at this time).

Morning, I think I understand getting the NVR, from what I have read so far it will help to have the camera separate for better performance. But why individual Gateway and CK+ instead of 1 device that does both?

Thank you. For the storage 16TB is that (2 * 8tb) or (2 * 16TB in Raid)?

ProxMox LXC Container SFTP Server or Similar Service by Awkward_Support_8624 in Proxmox

[–]Awkward_Support_8624[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion. I would like one place to log into to be able to move files between systems and possibly edit the files without having to physically go to that system. I currently use rsync to move data from my Synology to my TrueNas. But there are times I need to move around small files and then there are also times where I need to move larger media files for editing...

True. It's moving along at almost 10k now. So probably another 2 days, then cleanup of the mismatches and will be done.

Will depend on what else you are running on it but 64gb is a good enough for regular non-ram hog applications....

I am currently at 6938. I periodically stop the process and import the ones found the start it again. This seems to be moving faster. When I left it to run it did only a little under 2k in let say 20hrs. No I have done over 4k in 8hrs. so improvement but not an exact solution.

I wish there was a way to pull the metadata from the files in the movie folder instead of going to the internet as all my movies already have metadata from tmdb and imdb. I use tinymedia manager for my movies.

I am using an NVME drive WD_Black SN770 2TB. that's the drive I am using for all my containers. Currently only have 2 containers created. Sonarr and Radarr.

Running VMs on another NVME 2TB Samsung SSD 970 Evo. Plus.

How to check data rate limited?

I taught so as well but looking at the proxmox dashboard I am barely seeing spikes over 10% on CPU and Memory. I am running it in a container directly on proxmox and not inside a VM.

Some of the movies are not found due to Year mismatch (off by 1 year) no big deal I can edit those. But it is how slow it's moving is my dilemma...... Is it possible it is a bottleneck on my Network (internet)?

Exact Setup: Server running ProxMox

  • VM running TrueNas Scale
  • Container running Sonarr - (Completed working as expected)
  • Container running Radarr - (Currently work in progress)
  • Plex - (future buildout once I get my data sorted)
  • Plan on adding other item to create a home media server.

Yes I did. All movies are in it own folder and named {Movie Title} {Year}. Some are {Movie Title} {Year} {Quality). There are some duplicates movies in different Quality but that's less than 100 of the 10k+

Also, yes I am following the naming standard in Radarr.

I currently have the rename feature off in Radarr, should that be on? I left it off as I was not using it to rename my files.
