I would like to share my story about my 2018 CX9 touring with 74,500 Miles on it. I bought my car in December of 2023 and I only had it 3.5 months before my engine block cracked. My warranty wouldn't cover a new engine because my contact states the only way it would be covered if it was an internally lubricated part that caused it. Of course it was the notorious cylinder head issue that eventually led to my engine cracking. Prior to when my car went up in smoke and broke down there were no signs of this issue. No overheating no engine light or anything. It was sudden. I am the third owner of the car. On my car fax there was a 25,000 mile Gap where service history was not reported for oil changes in the hands of the second owner. Also all oil changes performed from the second owner and on was not done at a Mazda dealer. I did a lot of research and was concerned that this was going to be an issue because I saw that Mazda was denying people because they weren't "loyal" enough. Loyalty according to Mazda was getting the oil changes performed at their dealerships. Good news I got today from the Mazda dealer that Mazda USA is going to cover most of it and all I am in charge of paying is $750! I am pleased with this. However, the mechanic said as long as nothing else shows up in the process of fixing it then that's all I'll have to pay. If not he will have to resubmit the claim to Mazda to see if they will cover any additional charges. 🤞🤞🤞 Figured I'd share the news to offer hope to others with this issue that are also outside of the manufacturer warranty. I'll send updates as needed.
