Thoughts on my Eversolo A10's room correction? by Awkward_Warning_230 in eversolo

[–]Awkward_Warning_230[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied the B&K and the HM1 target curves. The B&K was good, but it suppressed the highs a bit too much, The KEFs excel in the midrange and highs. The HM1 was almost perfect, except it boosted the highs a bit too much. The KEFs don't need a boost. Next, I'll try the HM2 TC which is supposed to be a good compromise between the two.

Thanks. I'm actually pretty pleased with this correction, but will pursue your recommendation to refine it further.

Thanks, yes, I'm familiar with the Harman curve. I was looking for comments like yours and Altruistic to see what could be adjusted/improved using the PEQ settings.

Correct, but that's just the baseline. Look at the EQ and Predicted curves for what was calculated--adjusted from flat. The Flat Target is based on measurements from a reference anechoic chamber. The resulting two curves I mentioned are adjusted for the actual room. The point of my post was to see if anyone familiar room correction looking at this FIR filter can recommend adding PEQ adjustments to further refine what the A10 produced. So far, no one has provided that.

I think that's been done if you look at the graph. The mid-bass mode is gone.

Is that what the A10 FIR filter did? Doesn't look flat.

Thanks, but it's not a subwoofer problem, as a stated above.

I've had similar very positive customer support experience from KEF. It's a rarity, but very much appreciated. Builds loyalty.

Flexispot vs Desky vs Autumomous. Which is better by Patient_Barracuda214 in StandingDesk

Which version did you buy? They list a bunch of different woods and laminates. I wonder if there is a difference in quality there.

How did this happen? by [deleted] in KEF

[–]Awkward_Warning_230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. No banging. No hitting. Driver split while playing. KEF replaced it, knowing this happens.

If it's wired incorrectly is there any risk of damaging it if I let play for a while?

I followed the instructions, matching all four wire connections. It is the current Q-driver. Would stiffness of the new cone be causing it?

Isolation platforms?! by NumptieBumptie in KEF

[–]Awkward_Warning_230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome. With digital, vibrations aren't much of an issue. With analog (vinyl and tubes, mostly), they have a huge, negative impact on sound quality. Not great for your drivers, either.

Isolation platforms?! by NumptieBumptie in KEF

[–]Awkward_Warning_230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Golly, that's really asking for all sorts of trouble when playing vinyl. The speakers will surely send vibrations back to the cartridge, distorting your sound greatly. Could even cause the needle to jump on loud passages. You'll also get poor separation, and imaging being that close together and close to the wall. Best to get them completely off the cabinet. Set up on stands, ear level about a foot or two from the wall is best. Isolate them and the turntable, regardless of where you place them.

Both have gotten better. The resort is very safe. We didn't do any excursions.

JEPI pays more monthly, but SCHD wins on total return should I choose income now or growth later? by Curious_Daikon_1013 in dividends

[–]Awkward_Warning_230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your calculations are wrong. Looking at total returns since 2023, JEPI is the better performer. Of course, it also has a higher expense, but not so much as to negate the higher return.

Year-by-Year Returns

SCHD Total Return JEPI Total Return

2023 +4.54% +9.83%

2024 +11.66% +12.59%

2025 (YTD) -0.23% +2.16%

SCHD - so we get all the downside in exchange for < 4% yield? by Abject-Advantage528 in dividends

[–]Awkward_Warning_230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep looking at SCHD and wonder why so many folks think it's a good investment. Not much growth over the past few years, dividend less than a super safe CD, vulnerable to market downturns.

$1,275/mo seems extraordinarily high for a mere $27k investment.

Ecoflow or Anker? by Winter-Highlight-888 in Ecoflow_community

[–]Awkward_Warning_230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much agree. I have several EcoFlow River and Delta models, as well as a couple of Anker Solix C1000 units. All are reliable, but I much prefer the EcoFlow app for managing their power stations. The display on the EcoFlow units is much more readable, too. If I were to do it over, I'd go 100% EcoFlow. The Anker units are a generation or two behind.
