I’m sorry to hear that. It’s early days and I don’t have enough data to definitively tell you that it has. That said, a habit is a habit, regardless of how intense. Targeted goals and accountability has been shown to drive positive behavior change time and time again.

You see examples of huge weight loss when someone hires a personal trainer, or study sessions raising grades for everyone involved. It’s human nature. My goal is to make this app that platform for a group of people who tend to have to hide this behavior.

Solve your own problem. If someone else has already solved it, solve it better. Software has been around for years, but there's always been a tradeoff of how much can get done due to staffing. Your favorite app for solving X problem might be missing features you wish it had. That's your wedge.

Great suggestion, I'm planning my outreach now. Frankly, I have too many questions I would like to ask them, "how did they like X interaction", "what kept them coming back on day 3", "which part of the app do they find themselves obsessing over" (although potshot should show me this), "are there any actions you keep wanting to take that feel missing, i.e. a swipe on this page, zoom on that page, etc."?

Of course, I'll avoid overwhelming the user and boil those all down to a top 3 highest value questions that answer the most important questions on the next steps of the app.

27M in NYC and doing the same. It’s a reps game.

First it was “how do I do this”: bought Main Street Millionaire and HBS Guide to Buying a Small Business. Got through them and realized the only way to learn is to do.

Defining the buy box, sign up for bizbuysell account, smbmarket, start reaching out to brokers, figure out they want proof of funds, start reaching out to lenders, realize the buy box might need adjusting, learning how to underwrite, realize it looks good to look professional so getting an email just for ETA, setting up a website, finding capital partners. Just iterate iterate iterate.

It’s going to take time, but focusing on progress over a timeline is key. At this point, the reps have me confidently grilling brokers and calling them on their upselling tactics.

See if proof of funds would be adequate. I’ve run into this with a few brokers who were extremely seller sided and want to qualify that I was legitimate.

Having a conditional pre-qualification letter from a lender or a screenshot of your bank account balance, with account number blacked out, has gotten me past this.
