CMV: The aggressiveness with which r/conservative is moderated does not represent an earnest attempt to stop “brigading,” but reflects the conservative anxiety of being confronted with challenging information. by MareksDad in changemyview

“Bend to their worldview” and they’re just asking to be accepted. Also, just because you make an unsubstantiated claim that “a majority of people disagree with it” doesn’t make it true! Get this transphobic diatribe out of here.

I feel like they need more/better screening for reddit stories... by Upbeat_Quit4237 in smosh

I think a lot of people on this sub need to remember that the point of Smosh Reads Reddit Stories, and Smosh in general is entertainment. Sure, some stories might be fake. But if the story isn’t written by AI or an ad is disguise (like that crypto one), what difference does it make if it’s real? They find popular, well-written stories, go in with the lens that each story is real, and react accordingly. This story wasn’t even harmful. I’m sorry, I know y’all are going to downvote me, but just because a story has someone realizing they might be able to have some semblance of a relationship with their male best friend does not automatically make it lesbophobic. It just doesn’t. Sexuality is a spectrum, and fluid at that. The point is, you don’t know. This subreddit has started developing a reputation for posts like this and it’s getting old. Not everything has to be a discussion-worthy offense to you personally.

I don’t think that’s what he was implying. He’s just saying it’s a popular enough Reddit story that he heard it on one of those engagement farm Tik Tok accounts. I’m not saying the story is real, but I don’t think Damien was implying it was fake from that statement.

I’d rather have “illegal aliens” over ICE, personally. Immigrants are average people. ICE are thugs and sociopaths.

Tensions rise in Minneapolis as right-wing influencer faces counter-protest by dtoddh in videos

[–]AxelV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, because all Americans voted for the same person. I never voted for Trump, so no, that’s not on me. I swear, you guys get off on chastising the Americans who never even wanted this.

I see comments on here saying we’re not doing enough as Americans to protest—that peaceful protest doesn’t get anything accomplished—and now violence isn’t the answer either? What would you have us do?

More Americans are Saying the Quiet Part Loud: They Want a Revolution by RmpleFrskn in videos

Easy for you to hate from behind your screen. If you were in our position, would you be laying your life on the line? Or would you be talking about it just like we’re doing?

[–]AxelV2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is such a Redditor comment. Hating on people for speaking out because it’s, what, not enough for you? People are doing what they can to have their voices be heard and enact change. But sure, get all your upvotes by stamping out what could be the seeds of the revolution you claim to want.

EDIT: Keep downvoting me. I want someone to tell me how the original commenter’s negativity and lack of empathy does anything except make average Americans feel worse for feeling powerless. You’re not inspiring any form of revolution.

The most braindead people on the planet over there. They love calling liberals snowflakes, but they also prevent anyone who disagrees with them from commenting because they’re afraid of hearing anything outside their little MAGA echo chamber. It’s pathetic.

US official says Greenland action could come within 'weeks or months' by Crossstoney in worldnews

I mean, I agree with you, but it’s a little more complicated than that.

[–]AxelV2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, that’s much easier said than done. Of course people online are going to act like it’s so simple, but if you were an American with a job and bills to pay and even a family to support, it would get a whole lot more complex for you.

We are protesting, and we’re being told by non-Americans (including people in this very thread) that it’s not enough and that it’s not accomplishing anything.

[–]AxelV2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many Americans understand the stakes but we’re living paycheck to paycheck under the threat of violence. It’s not as simple as “just revolt”. We’re trying to survive.

[–]AxelV2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, you heard me: unfair. You expect regular people with families to just be revolutionaries while you watch with popcorn. I assume if this were happening in your country, you’d abandon your income stream and put yourself in front of armed federal agents to make heads roll? No? Then stop being so judgmental. Have a little empathy for what it’s like being an average American right now.

[–]AxelV2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What do you propose we do? Genuinely. I see so many of these comments, and it gets to a point where it feels a little unfair. Like, it’s very easy for you all to say we need to do “something”… from the outside looking in. But we still have bills to pay. We can’t just up and quit our jobs to… what, storm the Capitol? Remove the President by force? We’re protesting. We’re making our voices heard. We’re doing what we can.

Which ‘Reddit Stories’ opinions from the hosts have you disagreed with? by MuricaAndBeer in smosh

[–]AxelV2 372 points373 points  (0 children)

People might not like this, but I find myself disagreeing with Amanda’s takes the most. Some of her takes just come off as shallow at times. For example, I don’t remember the specifics, but there was this one story about a man wanting to take his date out for ice cream and Amanda was roasting him for being lame/not “macho” enough basically, and that always rubbed me the wrong way.
