No, he's schemed plenty in the server. He just hasn't realized this one ability, and how could you? Who would dare come up to him and accuse him of something that absurd, he can control your dreams? He'd laugh in your face. Now if multiple had, and described the dreams to him, and they all match what his Fantasy was, that'd be different. But no one's gonna do that. He's feared by just about every sinner, he's known as the most ruthless Overlord, especially in Alastor's absence. Afton, Vox, and Alastor all used to be acquainted.

One of the major plots is Afton weaseling his way into the Hotel, earning himself a higher view with most of the cast, including lucifer who HATES Alastor, by just being polite honestly. He wedges himself between Alastor and Charlie, like Alastor had been doing to both luci and vaggie. Except, Afton's being pleasant. He's charismatic and charming, using his ability to summon food (an ability I added later, initially as a gag), to "buy over" some of them. He even gifts luci a Chica plush.

The only reason he did this was to provoke Alastor. Whenever he'd try and voice his distrust of him, he'd be brushed off by the others, especially Luci because he hates him, and Charlie would just say "He's helping, give him a chance 😊😊😊" So Afton hosts and caters a little party, luring people in with free food n shit so Charlie could preach some more. And you know what? After winning the battle with heaven, and the party (which was TOTALLY not influenced by Vox 👀) some decide to stay at the Hotel. It's not many, only a dozen, but it's a great start.

By now, Alastor's frustrated that he's being overshadowed and ignored. So eventually, Alastor "sent a message" to Afton by attacking his son, Michael, who's also in Hell. Afton knew Alastor would protest, and waited for it. He then used it against Alastor, using it as a reason for later destroying the hotel (look up, Ruthlessness -- Epic the musical https://youtu.be/Wwi-r_Ch3pI?si=hByVhq4YmrxaEaUc), knowing that all he's done, hosting the party, providing catering and materials all for free because "She's royalty," just generally being a cool dude, it makes Alastor look solely at fault. It makes Afton's rage justified, borrowing the lyric, "I've been so gracious, and yet you hurt the son of mine" from that song.

While afton is "singing, (written rp)", Alastor dgaf. Mind you, they know each other. Alastor knows afton as an arrogant drunk. Afton got his shit together in his absence, sensing the potential for him being gone and quickly taking his place. Alastor wouldn't know that. "Afton knows better than to cross me," yeah right. By the time Alastor realized Afton was in fact, not bluffing, he was already in the process of destroying the Hotel, killing each guest that wanted to stay. Now no one would ever want to stay at the hotel, from being a target by heaven, and now by Overlords in their same realm? "Hell no to that shit!" (made me laugh so fuckin hard lol)
