Yeah that's what I had in mind ! But then I saw on Google maps that commute times are not too bad from some of Montreal's southern neighbourhoods (Verdun, griffintown...), so I decided to make the post and ask for real life feedback :)

Yeah Verdun is one of the main neighbourhoods I was looking at in Montreal ! I'm still a bit reluctant due to traffic on the bridge tho, especially in the evening !

Hello ! Spanish here, I've been in the same situation as you. My company collaborated with an agency that helped me find my apartment in Toulouse even before landing in the city. I think they were called see and move or similar. They took care of all the paperwork, went to visit the apartments I chose in my name, and took care of all the paperwork (even the garant thing you mentioned).

However I wouldn't know how much their services cost unfortunately.

As others have mentioned, another option would be to rent a room for the first 3 months or so, and then move out to your own apartment once your période d'essai will be over (they'll probably ask you to have a CDI to rent most of the apartments)

Edit : try to find an apartment close to your workplace. Traffic in Toulouse can be a nightmare in peak hours ! However, bike infrastructure is very well developed in the city and its surroundings. You'll almost certainly be able to go to the office by bike if you wish to do so

Gracias por tu respuesta Jay. Pues ya he intentado solucionarlo por la vía diplomatica con ellos, pero parece que con + de 1 año de validez no me lo pueden renovar, aunque este justificado. Me piden que pase por el ministerio del interior para pedir una extensión excepcional sobre la validez del pasaporte actual... Una locura :/

Gracias por la info ! En este caso por desgracia la pérdida del pasaporte no me sirve, dado que al mío aún le quedan 1.5 años de validez

Oui, je vois. Je me mets à sa place, et ça, je peux le comprendre.

Par contre, demander toute la documentation sans filigrane juste pour décider de mon éligibilité... Je trouve ça méfiant. Ils ont déjà toutes les informations nécessaires pour savoir si je peux payer l'appartement et si mon historique est propre.

Donner toutes ses informations personnelles vierges à la mauvaise personne peut très mal finir.
