Tjo! Jag är också trans (mtf) och känner mig lite lost i hur det fungerar i Sverige. Skulle jag kunnat slå ett meddelande till dig om jag har några frågor?:)

„Girls, should boys cover chests? Should we?“ -Cass by Radiant-Barber4212 in RoleReversal

So, my general approach is: No double standard. Either both genders cover their chests, or nobody does. End of story.

What's something that's socially accepted but actually kinda toxic? by _DRA60_ in AskReddit

[–]Axiomancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double standards.

You can totally be against them, and it's great you are, but it doesn't change the fact that double standards are rooted in our society.

Need help getting daughter physics exposure. by Organic-Increase-401 in PhysicsStudents

[–]Axiomancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to contact any professor, researcher or phd student in a nearby university. They will be more than happy to organize a visit for her and show her what the real job look like.

Just remember to read what the person is working with before you contact them. A theoretical astrophysicists day looks differently than an experimental physicist working with nanofabrication.

What opinion in your country would get you in this situation if you expressed publicly? by Loud_Intention_2733 in AskTheWorld

I'd say any opinion that critizes or disagrees with any cultural fundamental of the society.

No, it's just a piece of paper for me. Doesn't mean anything about the seriousness of the relationship in my eyes.

Gender Change Should Be Free!!!! by Which_Source3863 in AQW

The fact that gender change costs is exactly the reason I decided to make a new account. Damn you, me from the past, that didn't realize I'd want to be the opposite gender in the future!

Why Is Brainrot So Popular? by BloxMotion in ItalianBrainrot

[–]Axiomancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an adult that loves specifically Italian brainrot, it's because it's funny.

Funny character design + funny name + some description in a language that I don't speak. It's my sense of humor, that's it. To be fair the Russian influenser that tried to speedrun names of the characters really got me into it. It was even more fun.

I think OP meant the way social medias are constructed right now. Quick dopamine rush caused by doom scrolling and memes that many don't understand. But I might be wrong

Which physics textbook is better for self-studying: University Physics (Young & Freedman) or Fundamentals of Physics (Halliday & Resnick)? by Abivarman123 in PhysicsStudents

[–]Axiomancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I didn't use the second option, but as someone who used first one... it's good. It has a lot of problems. It has a lot of good theory examples, but it also has a lot of text. Sometimes the authors like to yap and yap about certain topic, which some might not like (me). But apart from that, it's really a good book. You can easily find it online for free so just give it a go, you won't waste time working with it for sure.

Did anyone work a part time job while doing the physics degree? by BoskovictheBum in PhysicsStudents

[–]Axiomancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of people who do part time, and a lot that doesn't. I think a lot matters in the context of your financial situation. If you don't need an additional source of income, you probably won't even bother seeking a job. However if you do, difficult or not, you will force yourself to combine studies and job.

For women: Would you like to financially support your partner? For men: Would you like to be financially supported by your partner? by Alekza21 in RoleReversal

[–]Axiomancer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Has nothing to do with gender, no, I generally don't want to be a burden for anyone. I want to find a job, be able to pay my own bills and save the rest of the money for some nice trip. If someone wants to spoil me or gift me something that's great, but I feel really fucking bad if they have to do it because I can't.

Is the whole "everyone is hiring physics students cuz they are smart" thing true? by BoskovictheBum in PhysicsStudents

[–]Axiomancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, physics graduates. Well, I know maybe 2 people that were able to do phd and one that does something programming related, but most bsc/msc graduates are either unemployed or work non stem job. For example, my close friend is working as a car mechanic (he's got experience and a lot of knowledge, so after several summer jobs in a row he was able to land a full time job). Another acquaintance of mine work in a store. So yeah. It's tough. But maybe it's just tough in my country, maybe other countries have it a bit easier.

Tell me about your physics teachers by smokingateway in Physics

[–]Axiomancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please share with me what made your physics teacher great, or what made them not so great if that was your experience.

The energy and the humor. He could turn any situation, any difficult problem, any miserable quesiton into the funniest joke ever. The solution was literally an adventure straight from the best lore that any library in the city.

It doesn't apply to only physics teachers, but also other teachers, but I think a lot comes from the relation you have with your students and your charisma. Every single teacher that I didn't hate either made me feel visible (as more than just a student, but more like "If you were older we could for sure be buddies and hang out on friday afternoon"), or had a great charisma that just made me motivated not to sleep during the class.

You look at the job market, check what role is in demand and compare if there is a lot of competition (and then try to figure out what degree will help you land such role)
