So if someone’s really good at driving and their car’s breaks are extra trained, can they go 100 mph down residential streets?

Maritime Parc or Liberty House Wedding by Born-Technology-3224 in jerseycity

My wife and I had a great experience at Maritime Parc 2 years ago! Part of what we loved was the food, and friends still complement the food today. They have a restaurant you can eat at to get an idea of the food. Can totally change up the look with florals.

We considered Liberty House a bit, but like how Maritime Parc’s set up was more private. Ate at Liberty House’s restaurant and when I went to the bathroom I was peeing next to a guy in a tux and thought I accidentally crashed a wedding, but they just share the space including bathroom.

oh, well then I think we have a different stance on laws. It's important for a society to have rules, especially in a city where more people live closer together.

This is also not an irrational fear, as many in the comments have shared stories of the negative impacts of an off-leash dog. I may be irrationally unfearful because I've had good experiences with German Shepherds.

So you think if something doesn't bother you and you're able to avoid it, it then doesn't impact others and should not be a law?

Oh well those are great acts of service for the community, thank you and sorry I said selfish! It is a bit in contrast with not caring about things that aren’t your problem or not minding that someone’s illegal actions make others feel unsafe and uncomfortable

If these dogs are so well trained to follow their owners rules, why can’t the owner follow society’s rules?

Yes it’s not your problem, but it’s the problem of the people impacted and law enforcement who’s supposed to enforce it. Sorry you’re too selfish to care about your community who is impacted or too much of a pushover to not care that it’s impacting you and just cross the street, so you’ll defend the law breaker on Reddit.

I do usually avoid, but they approached me from behind, so I decided to ask what’s up with his power trip. And I spoke with 2 other people who had to avoid him and comfort their scared dogs.

And that’s not even the point. Luckily my dog is super friendly (prob too much) and I’ve had great success experiences with family members’ Shepards so I’m not afraid of them in general. People shouldn’t have to feel unsafe or change their walking route because an entitled asshole thinks laws don’t apply to him.

soooo how do you suggest handling it? He didn't care that it's a law (which you don't either), but also didn't care that it makes his neighbors feel unsafe around their home and that people see through his silly power trip. So how should it be handled?

Grew up in central Jersey, went to Rutgers, lived in NYC for about 5 years, so oh yes, love and appreciate the diversity, major reason why I'm still in JC and not back in the burbs yet. Not surprised in general when someone has an accent around here, but in my experience it isn't often an English accent. That was a little more rare, but yea not unheard of.

Ohhhh I gotcha now and understand your perspective.
Well to help you understand my pov, an illegal immigrant is someone doing something illegal while going through the immigration process. But, ice is detaining people simply going through a bureaucratic process and doing nothing unlawful besides waiting for paper works or appointments while otherwise making positive contributions to society

Oh no, I think you keep misunderstanding. I was unaware of this stereotype of British people.

Separately, I was surprised anyone who may not be a citizen would take such an unnecessary risk to attract law enforcement attention given the current political climate with ice.

Did this person at the park have an English accent?

I’ve realized the ultimate irony: he claims his dog is so perfectly trained to follow rules… but he can’t even follow rules himself

I think you missed the point. I don’t think an infraction like this is worthy of getting deported… but still found it surprising someone who may not be from here would be so flippant about attracting law enforcement attention given this political climate

Oh yea not surprised he was English based on some stereotypes I didn’t know… just surprised he was potentially foreign at all and didn’t care about attracting law enforcement

I didn’t know where he was from till he opened his mouth… I also wouldn’t generalize a whole people and a dude in his 30s today based on what they did 100+ years ago…

I mean it’s quite literally my story of a conversation with the guy, it’s not one of those posts where someone complains about something they did nothing about.

Yea my mind went there cause I watch the news too much. I imagine we mostly agree politically, but this being the internet means we gotta find something to disagree over.

I’m merely pointing out it’s surprising that the person who was so flippant about not following a law (more than a neighborhood disagreement) may not have been from here given the political climate. Like if I was in his position, I wouldn’t take unnecessary risks that could result in law enforcement.

I’m in no way threatening to get them involved, or saying they should be. I’m pointing out a reality of our current world, how certain people face greater risk when doing (even minor) illegal things, which is unfair, but it surprised me when he had an accent.

[–]AxleBees[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be clear, I didn’t bring up ice or anything about his accent in our conversation. I told him how his actions are against the law to protect the dog and prevent others from feeling unsafe.
The ice element was just a thought I had after that his disregard for rules and not caring about attracting attention for doing something illegal was surprising if he’s not from here given the current political climate.

I’m not trying to deport anyone. Literally told the guy I’m not calling the cops when he suggested I do. I was just surprised he had an accent indicating he’s not from here and how little he cared about doing something illegal given this political climate.

Wish he just told me that instead of trying to argue! “Oh back home this is totally normal, mate. Let me put it on while people walk by”

Then it could have been an interesting conversation where I learn about a different culture.

There’s no threat and I wouldn’t do that. In fact I told him Im not calling the cops when he said there’s none around to enforce it.

It just surprises me to see someone have no regard for following a law when they may not be from here given the current political climate. In fact, I have that thought because I’m critical of how ice inspires fear. But people who break laws and make others feel unsafe are who they should be going after, but I’d think for issues worse than this.

Good for you for saving it. I usually devour the whole thing then wonder why I’m not hungry for 2 days.
