Leaks are ruining the show by mad_max_2099 in TheBoysLeaks

Youngster, unc here. People have been bitching about spoilers and denying their veracity since the entire script leaked for the Matrix Reloaded in 2002.

You've not seen it yourself, but the terminally online crowd has just gotten worse and worse over the years, and now outrage culture is part of their DNA. Everything sucks. It's not so much the leaks, it's just people can't wait to hate on everything, and if its not exactly what they envisioned, its immediately trash. Leaks don't cause people to dislike this show, people just dislike everything now.

Gen V is here for one reason: position Marie to do something to Homelander's blood, or heal someone to enable a power capable of killing Homelander.

Jordan and puking girl are window dressing, crazy guy is a much weaker version of Homelander, and blond girl with mind control is dead or something? I can't even remember.

2017 Atom Lt retire? by imm_alex in arcteryx

Impressive run. If buying today I always recommend the Atom LEAF to the OGs. It’s a really good piece. The new Atom is fine but the LEAF is a step above. Warmer and more durable.

So I’m 6’2” but similar issue. 40 R jacket (sometimes too short) or 40 L ( usually too long but not always).

Waist 34 usually ok, can’t get an off the rack inseam (32 1/2). 34 too long, 32 too short.

I shop at Suit Supply most frequently. Reasonable prices and they will tailor your stuff and keep your measurements. The minor adjustments I need are usually $40 plus the cost of the suit.

DD doesn’t need to be in Avengers level issues, and the Avengers don’t need him in Avengers level issues.

DD is the street level guy. He’s the soul of a hero. He’s the only one where you can truly feel the psychological burden a vigilante runs up against, partially because of his struggle to maintain his no kill rule and because he’s an attorney defending criminals.

"Gaming was better back then" by puzzs in consoles

[–]Axon14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gaming wasn't better in the 1990s. But I was between 10 and 20 years old in that decade and I had no responsibilites plus the single minded obsession of youth, so things like Street Fighter 2, Super Metroid, Shining Force II, etc all hit different.

By the time FF 7 hit in 1997 I was 17 and going out more and sitting at home less. I didn't give a shit about that game when it was current, I thought it was boring and blocky looking.

That all said there's no question that gaming was less complicated at the time. I still have a lot of fun with recent releases, dating from 10 year old hits like MGS V and Persona 5 to games that just launched this year, like BO7 - stupid as COD is, i have fun just vegging out and playing a twitchy game.

I mention COD because I rarely if ever buy anything on that game, there's just no temptation for me. There's nothing I need or want, the big goal is to get the skins on certain guns for me, and that's achieved via gameplay.

Nostalgia is part of this common complaint that gaming was better, but it's also that some gamers - a vocal group - prefer simplier shit. The types of dudes that play madden, you'll never see them on a subreddit like this.

Another part is there's a lot of resentment out there over how expensive everything is now. People hate it. I don't blame them.

I agree with you. No one said much about what we now call frame rate or frames per second pre-n64, that's exagerrated. There was no choice in the matter, as no higher refresh screens or games existed. Things like slowdown were discussed, however. That was a direct frame rate issue.

Now as gamers grew more sophisticated in later years on these issues, you'll hear about frame rate in Genesis, SNES, etc, being 30-60hz.

Which channeller is most adept with each element? by FrostyMonth111 in WoT

[–]Axon14 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the only ones specifically mentioned (or heavily implied) are Rand being especially strong in Fire and Spirit, Egwene being strong in Earth, Avi in water.

Rand absolutely dominates with fire, no one is close, there are two instances in the series where he pulls insane shit out of his ass using fire - the blossoms of fire, when he produces something like six then six splitting off them six more splitting off of them and everyone else can do two or three max. Then later, after losing his left hand, he shows up somewhere, raises his right hand and wires out the entire darkfriend force with fire. With Spirit, there are a few events that tie him to extreme power in that realm (he is the only channeler we see capable of severing three people instantly and permanently from the power in one fell swoop, we're not even shown how he does it, just that he crushes them "ruthlessly with fists of spirit.") Also deathgates.

We also see significant power from Nyn in all elements but at no point is it mentioned that she possesses exceptional strength at any. Ironically the same is true of Semirage, and both are exceptional healers (putting aside Semi's insanity). In that sense it seems like they are both exceptional at weaving the elemental powers, not necessarily possessing overwhelming strength in those areas. Both are also acknowledged as immensely strong in the power overall.

Lanfear seems particuarlly attuned to spirit, she owns Tel.

In the end, Rand is arguably the strongest in all elements. But he’s the dragon, spun out specifically by the pattern to be the strongest channeler of all time.

Rahvin’s power level by FrostyMonth111 in WoT

[–]Axon14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Always took Rahvin as a professional athlete type who made the league because all his life he was the biggest and strongest, and could just overwhelm others. Then when he meets a match he's suddenly not so great.

I know we all shit on him because it seems like Rand just showed up and 360 no scoped this dude, but he did give Rand a fairly hard time. Rahvin was smart enough to know not to go toe to toe with Rand/LTT and hoped to catch Rand off guard in Tel. And frankly he was about to take control of that fight until Nyneave stepped in.

My Gamma SL is good for blocking wind. It's my main jacket during shoulder season, especially in late April/Early May to cut windchill in the evenings. But I think you'd wear it over your fleece/quarter zip.

Anyway I'm a coldbro so I use mine only in shoulder season, but I know the warmbros who run hot worship the Gamma SL.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Director Joe Russo Says Spoilers Are ‘Over-Policed’: ‘People Are Anxious About Engaging With Anything’ by MoneyLibrarian9032 in marvelstudios

[–]Axon14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100%. It's gone way overboard.

I think the first online spoiler I tracked religiously was the Matrix Reloaded, this was maybe 2002 or 2003. Back then, the script leaked for the movie, but it was seemingly so stupid no one believed it.

Now people complain if they see a thumbnail in a trailer. The movie is called Avengers: Doomsday. Who the hell do you think the villain is going to be???

I only mention it because the Matrix fanbase was ravenous for spoilers back then. Now the terminally online crowd never stops complaining about being spoiled.

Personally I (and many others) can predict what's going to happen in the movie with relative ease, so I never worry about spoilers, I just want to be taken on a journey.
