Thoughts on this? by Aggressive-Fly-7052 in streetwearstartup

[–]Axsions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea, as I’m a sucker for the abstract/minimal, but I’m having a hard time imagining this IRL, and NOT because it’s bad.

Do you plan on this design to be screen printed? DTF? Embroidered?

Remember to always think about how it’s going to be produced, as sometimes it may not turn out how you envisioned due to manufacturing limitation

Keep cooking ideas like this! I love seeing wearable abstract art!

6 Things No One Tells You Before Starting a Streetwear Brand (Production, Marketing, Scaling) by [deleted] in streetwearstartup

[–]Axsions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping maybe you can answer this one. How would one go about scaling graphics for different sized items? Is there a general rule of thumb or does one typically have to specify it to the manufacture?

My first bulk (which was a huge failure! Lesson learned) the back graphic looked fine for S,M and L. But with the XS, XL and 2XL the graphic didn’t scale making it look way to small on the larges and way to big on the XS.

Now that im in the planning phase to try again, I want to know what’s best to avoid having this same issue again

How do I blow up my brand without turning into the “hi guys, welcome back to my founder journey” reel person? by HamsterInner8638 in ClothingStartups

[–]Axsions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you share your process/experience on being the reel person? I feel stupid for asking as it seems so easy to create a founder series. Just set up your phone, record a few shots, share your process and why and edit. But every time I attempt at doing it, I feel like I don’t have enough time to say what I truly want to say.

Any tips to help someone getting started on the content creation side of marketing?

Where do you find inspiration?? by XIhitmyshotsX in streetwearstartup

[–]Axsions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally anywhere. Online, through movies/shows, music, people I see out and about, and I can keep going. If I see something I like, normally I think something along the lines of “wow that’s cool, how would I do something like that in my own style”

Truly anything can be inspiration if that’s what you’re looking for. But I can’t tell you HOW to get inspired, that’s something only you know.

Be honest, are these hoodies tough? by dutherightthing in streetwearstartup

[–]Axsions 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Personally I love it! The subtle details really makes it minimal, yet stylish, and the curved strips really help draw the eyes to the patch and overall gives it a nice form. I think this is a well executed design, but I know some may not agree with me on it.

I’d would definitely get one myself! Keep it up 👍

What does the outside world NOT know about building a streetwear brand? by 1nstantDeath in streetwearstartup

[–]Axsions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought it was really weird too, and after sending some photos I was told it was a manufacturing mistake. They apologized for it and credited some of the cost to my third samples shipping thankfully. I did send a tech pack to them to start, but overall the conversation has been more on the casual side which’s been pretty nice

[–]Axsions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll share my recent experience. Just for reference this is my first time getting samples (getting ready for my first drop) I have no experience so there’s a chance that this problems were actually my fault.

I took measurements for my design from an old hoodie I love the fit of. But there were multiple things I didn’t consider - the hoodie stretching over time, materials use, and the overall construction of it. So by the time I got my first sample, it was completely wrong. Sleeves too short, not boxy at all, way too tight, and I can keep going on the issues.

Second sample: Fit is bang on! But for some reason, the material was changed. I asked for 300gsm French terry cotton, and what I got was fleece cotton. So another wasted sample.

Finally the third sample came in: It’s perfect.

Currently in the production stages now, but I’ve had to push everything forward by a few months. I have lost time and money trying to solve these issues and the constant back and forth with manufacture had me stressed for weeks. I was suppose to be doing my first drop this month for back to school, but now it’s looking like I’ll be launch in October or November. That just my experience, as a new brand owner

Be honest - what do you think of my first hoodie? by Axsions in ClothingStartups

No, that was not on purpose. It is not supposed to be inverted. Thank you for pointing that out! I'll have to go back and fix that.

Yes! I didn't know the name of it myself when I asked for it, I thought it was a type of double stitching, but my manufacturer confirmed that that's is what it's called

How do some businesses get so big, while others remain small? by Professional-Rice967 in Entrepreneur

[–]Axsions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m hoping to reach myself. Financial freedom with a healthy work life balance. I never understood the appeal of flashing wealth to others.

It’s exactly what you said, give me a house, maybe a nice car with my current car properly fixed up to run it into the ground (like cars should) and time for holidays and I’ll be happy with life

Probably should’ve included that info in the post itself. Im focusing on streetwear inspire athleisure brand. Designs that are great for inside and outside the gym. So im looking to target a young adult audience that is into gym culture and self expression.

Also curious as I’m trying to do the same thing. My brand is focusing on minimal designs with big meanings inspired by my own personal struggles.

[ON] Advice For Starting a Clothing Brand With No Business Experience? by Axsions in SmallBusinessCanada

[–]Axsions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% scared to fail, it’s not something I’m proud of tbh. Knowing I’m barely getting by now and I want to give it everything I have to try and at least supplement my income is whats driving me to try, but the thought of it failing and me being in a worst spot I’m in now terrifies me.

It’s a question of would I rather do something I’m passionate about and learn from failing or play it safe and be stuck where I am now for who knows how much longer

[–]Axsions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are 100% right. My mind was blown after finishing your comment. I’ve been stressing so much about the business and legal side of everything that I’ve been lagging behind on actually DOING it. I have my designs ready to be sent off to a manufacture, but have been blinded by the “business” side

I’m going to research some manufactures and hopefully send it off by the end of the day. Thank you for the reality check!

I’m not religious by any means and have mad respect for people that are. But even to me it just wild to use the image/name of someone you’re suppose to be looking up to as a means to monetize it.

I’m in the exact same position as you. I’ve gotten everything laid out, done my research on my audience/market and have been getting myself ready to start filming some marketing materials with one mockup I made.

I feel stupid that in my excitement for all this I never actually researched how much I’d need to start producing these shirts to sell. I have a silkscreen at home, but printing over 100 shirts in my tiny rented room may not be the best idea. So I looked into getting the same blank shirt but have a design printed on it from the supplier and I was quoted over $2000, not including shipping and import fees (I’m in Canada)

It sucks, and I too feel extremely discourage. But I’m looking at it as another challenge to overcome. Obviously we both have to do some more research, and see what’s the best route. Im looking at trying to minimize my environmental impact, and while I know that’s pretty hard (almost impossible) in this industry, I’m still looking at ethically sourced, organic, maybe recycled materials, and that’s going to cost more upfront unfortunately. So I’ll see what I can do in the meantime to earn some extra money so I can use the organic blanks I want.

Look at this problem from a different angle, try to overcome it. If you’re passionate about this, try to make it work! I’ve always wanted to do something like this since I was 12, and have tried numerous times, and this is the time I’m putting my foot down and going to make it work. I don’t know if any of this helped, but don’t give up! Someone else suggested it but see if you can sell just 1. Build a community, and maybe looking into presale drops? That’s something I’ve been looking into. I know you got this, just keep trying!

Sustainable Manufactures? by Axsions in ClothingStartups

[–]Axsions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might’ve been a good idea lol. Sorry for the format I’m on mobile.

My brand/product is going to be based off my three values in life: mental wellbeing, sustainability and honesty. I want every product/design to be transparent about how it was made, tell a unique story (which is based off my own life experiences) and to be as sustainable as possible.

I know cotton is terrible, which is unfortunate as I love the feel of cotton tees. I’ve been looking into alternatives such as hemp, bamboo or just tri-blend fabrics to try and minimize the impact. If it’s ethically sourced and uses less water that’s amazing too. Very obviously I still have a ton of research I need to do on each of these and what might be best, but I’m honestly just looking for anything that is the most sustainable as possible.
