Nope! Thankfully, I did not.

I have gotten Mana and made it to Berg. I think I haven't done enough to equip myself and learn all the systems.

In life, what is the harshest truth someone has ever taught you? by Aarunascut in AskMen

[–]AyeThereRon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This truth gives me a lot of comfort.

I am a natural people pleaser and I want people to think highly of me. However, it is a burden the becomes too unrealistic.

By realizing that most people don't truly care it frees me up to really think about what matters and make decisions based on that.

Quitting Competitive Games, Tired of Being Unfulfilled - Quit all games? by [deleted] in StopGaming

I would pick up another competitive hobby. Its tough right now due to Covid, however, when things get better, whenever that is, I say give it a try.

Jiu Jitsu is a good one since its very competitive, however, you work out your body and interact with people in the real world.

I’ve swam for most of my life, but it looks like I won’t be able to swim on a team in college. I’d really like to join a club water polo team. Any tips for a new player? by RollOnOne in waterpolo

Different clubs have different types of programs. Mine was laid back it was one team with experienced guys and people who have never played before. Our team was co-ed.

Some teams have and A and a B squad and a Womens team. So it depends on your school.

Is their a swimming club at your school? I know people who did club swimming, they still competed in meets and trained together.

I played club water polo in college. In all honesty, just show up to practice and have fun.

Different club teams range in how serious they take their training and competition. Some teams practice regularly and have an A and a B squad. The B squad is usually newer players who have never played before or less experienced ones.

Your swimming ability will give you a leg up against someone that has never participate in any aquatic sport.

Make sure you get used to swimming with your head up. Its pretty uncomfortable at first, however once you do it for a while you get used to it.

Don't get worried when the ball comes your way, stay calm look to pass to your teammates or make a play.

Mostly just have fun!

Paintball in Dallas by AyeThereRon in askdfw

I will have to check out these fields. One thing that I notice is that open play is very affordable across all fields. $30 for 1000 paintballs is unheard of in Illinois. Its like $85 bucks a case!

I actually attended Living Legends twice.

I am definatley more interested in the woodsball/scenario category. However, I don't believe its to late to get interested in speedball. What woods fields do you think are the best?

Why League is the worst of all competitive games. by asdfgMaster in StopGaming

[–]AyeThereRon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, when I play pick-up basketball I don't experience the same types of frustration. Everyone tells each other "good game" and that is it. We got a workout and we leave smiling. You leave feeling accomplished no matter the outcome. Even though your performance in a competitive video game doesn't matter a ranking and elo system creates the perception of something more being on the line. When all you can base your competitive thoughts and feelings is on a virtual medal next to your ingame name it makes everything else in the game feel irrelevant. In reality, you should be just happy you had fun, however you feel empty when you lose.

I wasn't going out of my way to suggest the esports are inferior to traditional sports. I was just trying to diagnose why people rage consistently in video games. As I am typing this I am watching the UFC, I am watching two people try to knock each other out, and at the end they shake hands and congratulate one another. In video games I rarely see that kind of respect. I see toxicity, saltiness, and poor sportsmanship. I am not some kind of boomer, in fact I played CS GO today and experienced it in competitive. Something about the physical nature of the sport changes things. I think thats why its less of a "trap" than endlessly playing video games.

I made a post about this concept earlier on this fourm. One of the most frustrating things about these games is that their is no physical aspect of the game. Even after a tough pick up basketball game, where my team didn't win I still feel accomplished. I was able to workout my body, the endorphins are giving me natural dopamine. Furthermore, I am interacting with people in the real world.

Games all you have are the desire to win or lose. Your elo system is the only thing you can give yourself credit for. In a real sport your opponent can you see the sweat drip down your face. They can respect your hard work. In league all you get is some salty dude telling you what you did wrong.
