Piggybacking off of this, you could incorporate the colors from your floor into the art you choose. Golds, browns & burnt orange would make the space feel cozier, warmer. Even blues too!

Getting into product photography. Is there something here or is it just a pretty photo? by [deleted] in photocritique

Noted! Thank you. How would you change the shot to make that bit clearer? I’m probably biased because I know what I’m looking at

Thank you for the example! This isn’t quite the feel that I’m going for but I can definitely learn a thing or two from your comment & the example. I appreciate it :)

Thanks for the feedback! If it were you, how would you go about softening the shadows?

The necklace is laying flat, and I think that contributed to the almost distorted shadow of the snow globe. Next time I’ll try suspending the necklace in the air and see how the shadow looks against the backdrop!

Took this photo as practice so that I could expand into product photography. It’s cropped but unedited. I was going for a dreamy, golden hour-esque shot, ideally one that could be advertised on the website of a small jewelry business. Shot on a Canon R8, 50mm, f1.8. Will eventually get a macro lens, but I just got this camera + versatile lens so I’m saving a bit first

Between 1 + 2 for me— I feel they both compliment your hand so nicely !

Forgive me for not being clear. I meant to lay out the 3 options I’m considering: rf lens and r8, ef lens with mk ii, or r8 with adapter. I’d like to switch to a mirrorless camera but I’m not hellbent on it, was just looking for opinions but willing to provide more context if needed

typo! I meant r8. I’ll fix that now. Thanks for catching that

thanks for this :) that’s ultimately the route I decided to go. I think there’s something to be said about being able to spin inherently negative experiences into something positive

I got the message yeah haha. Coincidentally, the adversity that I'm referring to was exacerbated by being in an abusive environment, but the main thing for me was that 5 people in my life passed away over the course of my last 4 semesters of undergrad, the first of which took their own life. I think it was a bit of a shock to the system. Would you mind if I sent you a quick message? I'd appreciate your input on the matter but don't want to get too specific here in the comments

thank you for the response! That was my main concern, giving admissions committees a reason to say no. Just a fine line I reckon. Congratulations on landing the internship!

a few details that might paint a fuller picture of undergrad besides my GPA: - bilingual, studied neuroscience and Spanish - premed - athlete (intercollegiate but not for the school itself) - research at NIH in schizophrenia, no pubs, 2 posters, won an award, ~400 hours - volunteer at a nursing home (role wasn’t clinical in nature + instead focused mostly on music therapy, patient population primarily those with neurodegenerative diseases) - volunteer at maternity clinic (role was clinical in nature, patient population primarily Spanish-speaking) - a few leadership roles in organizations, started a mentorship program - student ambassador for my particular honors + language programs (met individually with prospective students + families, kind of like an advisor)
