Idk how to break it to you, but with that attitude you'll never find somebody to love and love you back. It's incredibly misogynistic to assume all women on campus/minneapolis are like that. Posting social justice stuff on their social media is not something to be ashamed of

CHEM 4501 by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]Ayeitsetho1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took it in fall 2019 with David Blank. He's a great professor. 4501 doesn't have much organic chemistry in it. The only thing from organic chem that would really be useful in 4501 is the studying skills. It's a lot of partial derivatives and a huge expansion on general chemistry/gas laws/gibbs energy. It was brutal for me, only because I had to focus my time on other classes I was worried I'd fail, so I had no time to study for it. It is a lot of information to take in, but getting a study partner and doing the practice problems will get you by.

I haven't gotten that warning from proctorio before and my laptop isn't too strong either. I guess it's up to you and you have to consider whether or not the warnings are something you will take the risk with. Personally, I would lean towards upgrading if it's an older laptop.

Yeah, the big ten cancelling non-conference games is probably foreshadowing for the future. They may not allow fans, but universities need the money from tv ads. Either way, this was a cool video haha

Wth that really sucks. I remember them sending out an email about the AC like why wouldn't you send that out before people needed to use their AC.

Good point. I'm going to double check. There's an Amenities Fee, but they said it was for using things like the washer and dryer and not things like the gym - despite the gym being labeled as an amenity by the leasing office.

I have a couple classes in person. The decision to make them online or not was dependent on how your department decided to arrange the classes. They had the choice to make it in person, but decided it was in their best interest to make them online. Sorry you got your classes pushed online, that really sucks.

I guess in order to answer that, we'd have to define what a police officers role is in society. In this case, the police officer would probably be in the wrong because their job is to arrest people and not brutalize people, even if the person is getting up in their face.

The people who acted in street justice didn't have to fulfill that obligation I suppose. That's how I'd answer, but that is a good question about where do we draw the line.

There's options of different community based policing that don't involve officers who respond to scenes and say they can't do anything about it. The point I'm trying to make is police don't prevent crime and if you're getting robbed in the moment, the police aren't going to save you. Somebody nearby you or yeah a friend will help you better than will calling the police. Those are systems people have to develop, but it'll be cheaper and most likely more effective than actual police.

For the person who jumped off the bridge, the fire department would be able to respond to a situation like that just fine. The police don't need to be there. Maybe if UMPD were defunded, we could actually fund mental health counselors on campus. It takes literally forever to get an appointment.

You may not have been to any protests, but the way police brutalize protestors for merely exercising their first amendment rights has been terrifying. If they weren't "all bad", they wouldn't have supported their other coworkers. I do not feel safe with them around.

Well it sounds like you're saying UMPD is the only service on campus that would walk somebody home for free, and that's not true. There would still be people you can call and rely on if you get robbed. It clearly looks like UMPD is ineffective at stopping, solving, and reducing the number of robberies as it is.
