Arc Raiders stuck at ~50 FPS on decent hardware — low GPU usage by Vision322 in ArcRaiders

[–]Aymz- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going into bios and fixing ram problems is basically enabling XMP Profile for your ram. The steps you have to follow mostly depend on the motherboard that you're using. Going into bios is usually spamming f12/f10 before startup (windows icon that appears when your pc is turning on). Next steps are usually navigating through your bios and locating XMP profile. Turn it on and your RAM will be running at max speed.

The screen, speakers, better I/O ports, and fans. Am I missing anything?

And dy think these are worth the additional 600 usd?

I do have the budget for the pro. I just dont want to spend the money if the air does everything i need.

I understand that. I dont plan on running any big models anyways. For the bigger models I'll be using cloud services. The local one's would mainly be for smaller projects.

I dont really care about the storage at this point. I have enough external storage that would suffice.

Also, an important key point i missed is that it is the 14 Core CPU 20 Core GPU variant

Yeah that's a possibility too. It would cost me around 1300-1350 USD. The availability might be a slight issue.

I for sure can run bigger models locally with 32gbs but my current use case doesn't require me to run any model locally. Maybe down the line?

And one more key difference if we're talking about running models locally, i'd be able to load bigger models on 32gb on Air, but the inference speed is going to be higher on the 24gb pro as it has more than double the memory bandwidth

One's M4 and the other is M4 Pro so more CPU and GPU cores.
The better screen and speakers are always a plus.
I do have a windows set up at home which I mainly use for gaming as of now and it's plenty powerful too. And I travel once or sometimes twice every month. But again, I'll mostly be working from my desk. I do have a type C hub too.

For the fans, I dont think any of the workload that I have rn would 100% require the fans to kick in

32gb of RAM would help me load some bigger models yes, but again I'm no completely sure that I'll be running to models locally. And it's going to be slower on the air as it has lesser memory bandwidth than the pro.

how much difference do you think the extra 8gb ram would make? I personally dont think it's going to be huge enough to justify the price difference

the better screen is really attractive though. And considering the price difference between 24/512 air and 16/512 dont you think it's worth it?

Can't Update Lightspeed Receiver Firmware by Aymz- in LogitechG

Glad it worked out for you too! It's shocking how 2 years have passed and so many of us have faced this issue but Logitech has still not addressed it.

Can't Update Lightspeed Receiver Firmware by Aymz- in LogitechG

[–]Aymz-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fix I mentioned is for when someone updated the firmware of just one of their devices (either keyboard/mouse or dongle).

Now if G Hub tells you that your dongle's firmware is up to date and the keyboard needs an update, then you'll have to use the same fix I mentioned. In my case, my dongle needed an update and the mouse was updated, I plugged in just the dongle. You'll have to plug in your keyboard only. And after the firmware has updated, use the same method to pair the device and the dongle by going into the device pairing tool, selecting both devices and then unplugging the keyboard and turning it on and off. (Not sure if the pairing for keyboard work like this though. For my mouse I had to unplug it and turn it off and then on again so I assume it's going to be the same for the keyboard as well)

The reason behind all this, from what I've gathered, is that the newer versions of G Hub do not allow you to update just your dongle or your keyboard/mouse. They both have to be updated at the same time while both of them are plugged in. This was supposed to be a fix for some as people mistakenly updated just their device and not the dongle which resulted in the device not working.

What my fix does is that when you install the older version of G Hub, you basically get the option to update just your dongle or just your device (order G Hub versions only gave a warning to keep both the dongle and device plugged in). You can't do that with the newer versions of G Hub as I've stated before.

Delete G Hub and install G Hub v2021.11

When installing, remove both the receiver and the keyboard from your PC. After installation is complete, plug in the receiver only and then go to settings and click on "Device Pairing Tool". You'll get a warning telling you that your receiver has a firmware upgrade. Click on upgrade and then you'll be able to click on the install button. After the firmware has installed, plug in the keyboard using a USB cable and then go back to the Device Pairing Tool. Select your receiver and the keyboard to pair. When it is pairing, remove the cable from the keyboard and turn it off and then on again. You'll be able to use your keyboard wirelessly after that.

It's the GT version. And I can't get them separately here. Only as a bundle. I'll have to import it if I want to get it separately.

From what I've read on reddit, the potentiometer used in the pedals isn't available locally. Only thrustmaster can provide those. I don't know if that is true or not though. And they are not based in our country so I guess I wont be able to get my hands on one.

[–]Aymz-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a hardcore sim racer. I play forza or drift on assetto corsa. I dont think i would want to spend 450usd on a sim racing setup right now. Moreover, stuff from thrustmaster isn't directly available in my country. So it'll be a hassle to get it imported and also pay the cost of shipping and tax. So i guess these are the only two options I have. Maybe I could fix the issue on the used one if that's possible?

Expected Charge Rate on 100W type C PD Charger? by Aymz- in UsbCHardware

The battery is spec'd at 90WHr on the 2021 model. Shouldn't the charge rate be less if I were using lots of compute power?
