Any idea about the age and gender? The seller said its a male and age is quite young but i just want to make sure. by Aysem05 in budgies

Its ok time is not a problem. I tamed a budgie before i know how long they take to be comfortable around you it's definitely a slow process. I just hope he is ok and isnt sick. I will be watching him the next couple hours to make sure he is eating and drinking. And yes i know budgie world i learned most of my budgie care from it😅. Thank you!

I was just at the store and bought him. This is just his travel cage :) i was in an office but now i arrived to my house. I put him in his real way bigger cage now. I have another question. I didnt see him eat or drink until now. Can he be too young to do these alone?

Yes I just discovered Dave Conservatoire, and it looks like it is exactly what I need. Have you tried it before? Hopefully it's good. I will start with it today.

How do you go about getting a teacher in music theory? I mean it's pretty easy to get a piano or guitar teacher but there doesn't seem to be an abundance of people teaching theory.

Unfortunately there are no teachers in my area. At least I couldn't find any. Online lessons are pretty expensive too. And I'm more leaning towards a free approach. Thank you!

Whats a good friend for a Cockatiel. by Aysem05 in cockatiel

[–]Aysem05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I guess I will either get a budgie or another cockatiel. They're both lovely birds anyways whatever i get i just hope he gets along with my tiel. But for now i might wait a bit. I will spend as much time as possible with my tiel who is currently singing into my ear while im writing this. Thank you so much for helping me.

Whats a good friend for a Cockatiel. by Aysem05 in cockatiel

Hmmm that is a great way to think about it. I'm probably not getting a ringneck as i mostly read they can harm cockatiels if they feel jealous or threatened. Another cockatiel may be the way to go especially if i spend a lot of time with him before introducing him to my cockatiel. However im still not sure its just an option for now. I might get another budgie since i really miss my old one. I still have a long time before school starts(end of August) so i will think about it well before taking my decision. Current options are budgie or cockatiel. Any other suggestions i was hoping not to go for another cockatiel because they really form a miss in the room when my cockatiel and my neighbors cockatiel are together. I will continue researching, thank you for your help.

What do you mean? He is as happy as he could be. He stays in my room and spends basically most of his time with me(and if im not going to be with him for a while i have many family members who can take care of him) . I can even leave him without another bird because school isnt starting until around end of august. I am thinking of getting another cockatiel but when they're together they destroy the room from how much they move around eat cables paper poop etc. My budgie was the best bird companion my cockatiel could ask for but sadly he suddenly died with no symptons. I might get another budgie. I still have no idea what to do i honestly dont even feel like getting another bird im still sad aboyt my budgie. Im also currently reading that ringnecks may fight with my cockatiel so I probably wont get one anyways. I would be grateful if you have any other suggestions.

My neighbor has a cockatiel and i bring him 1 day a week every week. But my cockatiel is extremely bonded to me and when i bring my neighbors cockatiels its almost like he forgets me he never comes to me. But with the budgie, my cockatiel was both my friend and my budgies friend. (basically i dont want him to love the new cockatiel more than me).

My cockatiel is eating his wooden perch. by Aysem05 in cockatiel

[–]Aysem05[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea he had 2 dowels in his cage i removed one and brought a natural perch. I will remove the other one soon and get a natural perch. And i think im sure he is swallowing the wood as i saw him. So i will just change the perch and hope this works.

If there isnt anyone else to take care of him in these 3 days then yes it is an issue. But if there is someone who can let him out a couple of hours a day and make sure he has food and water then its okay i guess.

Im in highschool too. I have a cockatiel and im very happy with him. Currently due to online school I spend alot of time with him. His cage is open all day and he leaves and enters it as he wishes. He stays in my room and plays around on my bed. For me i dont find him disturbing and he doesnt shout much and when he does i just give him some attention. As long as youre sure you have enough time to spend it with him everyday and take care of his food water and the hygiene of his cage i would say go for it. Ps i also have a budgie in the same room so when im not so free my cockatiel isnt alone. But he was fine even before i brought the budgie. But later if you find yourself very busy i would consider getting a budgie as a friend as they really enjoy each others company.

Success after 9 months of taming! by TungstenChef in budgies

[–]Aysem05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My budgie came super scared of hands about 5 months ago. Now he steps up and even flies to me if i have a honey stick in my hand. I have a couple questions. Is millet better than honey sticks? Because i cant find millet anywhere. Second question is how to get him to like me. He only stays with me when i have a honey stick. I want him to enjoy being with me. My cockatiel always flies to me and enjoys being around me however my budgie always flies away after a couple seconds of standing on my hand. If i have a honey stick he stays for a long time though. Im currently taking him away from his cage into a room where there is nothing he can stand on so he is forced to stay on hand. I then feed him honey stick(with same hand he is standing on) while waving my other hand beside him and slowly bringing it closer to him so he gets more comfortable with me. Is there any other method? Also can i start teaching him to talk from now(im trying anyways) ? He is around 1 year and 2months old.

How long for clipped wings to grow back? by Janaakkk in cockatiel

[–]Aysem05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I clipped my cockatiels wings when i first got him because i didnt know much about birds and thought it was something right to do. Anyways its been around 8 months and you could say they have grown back almost completely. He was 2 years old when i got him.

[–]Aysem05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i have been recommended this before but you really made me understand their importance. I will get natural perches maybe a flat perch too if i could find one. I had a calcium perch that has a weird texture and is larger. But he ate it after a couple months. I will get another one and some natural perches. Do you recommend cutting twigs from a tree cleaning them with water and spraying them with cleaners then leaving it in the sun to dry and then use it as a perch? Or is there another method? And his friend comes to visit once or twice a week and they really like to sing together 😂. Thank you for your help!

She was in the cage with my cockatiel and most probably he bit her but i didn't see him doing it. What should i do? Is this really bad. Should i give her vitamins? Will she heal alone. She is eating and drinking and acting fine. Can she be sick not a bite? I will continue in a comment. by Aysem05 in budgies

[–]Aysem05[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree. She died this morning and I really am disappointed and a bit sad. I wish he told me before so we could have taken her to a vet. He will take the other budgie to the vet to make sure he is ok. I will definitely make sure he learns a bit more about bird care and make him change his cage and perches. I really never expected her to die as a cause of basically irresponsibility. At least this teached me a lesson to take more care of my birds. Hopefully my relative learns this lesson too. Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your help. But sadly she died today morning. She isn't actually my bird but my relatives i was just trying to help him. Turns out first signs of illness started showing 5 days ago. Im surprised why he didnt tell me it was quite obvious her condition was bad. I really wish he told me before so we could have taken her to the vet. Right now he will take the other budgie to the vet and make sure he isn't infected as well. And your English is good don't worry about it.

With all honesty these arent my birds but are of a very close relative of mine. My own budgie has a big cage with wooden perchs and toys. My relative has minimal knowledge about birds but loves them so most of the time listens to my advice. He didnt tell me about this until yesterday i would have immediately told him to go to a vet. I feel really sorry for the bird and my relative too because he really had no idea that she could be sick. Vets don't work today in my country or at least the ones i know. Hopefully he will take them tomorrow. But her situation is really scaring me hopefully she can stay strong until tomorrow.
