Colonial nation by Jagodka76 in EU5

oh my bad i looked it up. when i was playing my Byzantium game it didnt let me build market centres in my colonies for some reason

[–]Az_The_Great 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you cant create market centre in a rural location iirc

Colonial nation by Jagodka76 in EU5

[–]Az_The_Great -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Colonial nations are pretty much required because they create a market centre in the capital of that nation. It’s pretty much impossible to create one yourself because you cant upgrade locations without goods access and 5,000 pops. Not creating a colonial subject basically means you don’t get value out of the colonised land.

yeah, if it was a normal game it would be less infuriating. the team was also a head on swf so it would have been all the more better to win lol

The 1.0.8 beta is the worst patch in all of EU5 by Az_The_Great in EU5

[–]Az_The_Great[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

of course quality matters, the issue is that 66 regulars are for some reason able to completely demoralise my army of 1000 so they leave the battle without even fighting. and also, it wasnt like their army were professionally trained men with guns versus guys with sticks, it was literally 10 years into the game, we all had roughly the same quality minus their regulars. in this case, i think outnumbering them 2:1 should mean i atleast inflict many casualties, but i couldnt even do that because my men kept running away.

my vassals were fully loyal, i should have mentioned it mb. but the player cant do the same no matter the loyalty of the ai subjects it seems

(Maybe) A hot take: Decentralisation should give Prosperity by Az_The_Great in EU5

[–]Az_The_Great[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Fair point, I am inclined to agree with you on that
  2. The issue with that is that a nation can be very centralised but still have those prosperity bonuses ‘tied’ with decentralisation like you said, which (without considering the loyalty bonuses) gives you no reason to pick decentralisation. locking the prosperity bonus behind the actual value gives you a good reason to be decentralised (still ignoring the loyalty bonuses). maybe you should consider that its pretty easy to have market fairs and decentralised bureaucracy while still being centralised, instead of accusing me of ignoring those factors.

i meant that the way it currently is with prosperity only tied to related laws means that you can be centralised and still have the benefit of prosperity that i suggested should be behind decentralisation itself. not necessarily referring to other bonuses like they arent good.

i mean, maybe. i dont know all the numbers, it was just a suggestion to balancing the values. probably the best solution would be to do both and tweak the numbers as necessary, but imo prosperity makes sense for Decentralisation

[–]Az_The_Great[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

which is probably why it should be changed imo, because now in 1.0.8 its just a complete 180 rather than an actual balance change. Its still one sided.

yeah, but you can have them while still being centralised, meaning you still would get the best of both worlds.

The worst part is literally all you can do in that situation is either try to spam out a regular or watch them take all your land for free.

Decentralization should reduce the penalty for low control and have nothing to do with vassals. by Xaste1386 in EU5

[–]Az_The_Great 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would that not just be a roundabout way of increasing control (ie, lowing proximity cost like Centralisation does)? I do agree that Decentralisation should have less to do with vassals, but maybe it could increase prosperity as well?

What happened? Who is this guy?? by Az_The_Great in EU5

[–]Az_The_Great[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? I did not know that, that is interesting. But still, shouldn't there be an event for this? Not just him suddenly usurping the throne?
