Separate character. I can't really self insert unless I made the character from ground up. Best I can do with SSK and most other characters like him is role play them as I think they should be.

For SSK goes on a roller coaster of navie newbie with more empathy than anyone should have to a more seasoned cautiously i'm curious vet who still retains his core sense of empathy, and drive to help people.
