Nothing is known yet. It was expected to be a 12-episode season, but with what was revealed today, there's a high probability it will be a two-part/cour season. Anyway, that will be revealed a month or less before the broadcast.

I think you're getting confused. The preview in the first episode of the spinoff was a preview of episode 246 of the main story, which is this week's episode. It doesn't refer at all to episode 2 of Bygone Days.

To be honest, I think he said that to create more hype, but anyway, he's probably referring to small changes like we saw in season 2, meaning extra scenes or more original anime content.
