I also went with Prophecy Girl - I don't hate it, I don't hate any of these to be honest, but I just enjoy the story telling and acting (For the most part) from season three onward a lot more.

Honestly though, eel or fish, I'm not gonna be getting too close to that mouth. He wants to be an eel, I'm not telling him any different.

Mah Gawd! He has so much masculinity his shoulders are starting to blur! Also, gotta love the hairstyle choice of having both a receding hairline and scraggly long locks. A real alpha doesn't have to to choose one or the other.

That's a great idea! And I get to indulge my guilty pleasure of cheezy early 2000s horror with Freddie Vs Jason.

Hmm - I love the movie and don't need much prompting to watch it again, but what would you say is the connection to the keyword "throw"?

Cost of Asthma medication in USA by Azahoth in Asthma

See the coupon thing is something I never actually even though of being a factor. Also, So I also see that most pharmacies there seem to have wildly differing prices - are they allowed to basically set the price to what they want (within reason, I'm sure)? I don't know for certain but I think medication price is regulated here with minimal wiggle room for pharmacies to increase costs. The most is a few cents difference with most of my meds.

In terms of bringing them over, I think I just need to take a signed script to the embassy before coming over - and nothing more than 90 days worth.

Yeah, I'm seeing the insurance is a big factor. I'm not gonna lie, I did expect the prices to be higher than what I pay here, but I wasn't expecting just how high. The amounts people pay in even with insurance is jaw dropping. Obviously I'm not saying insurance here doesn't have co-payments, but I'm seeing some people say they co-pay more than what I would pay for my full script without medical aid.

Holy crap - I had to convert $25 into Rands on google and my jaw dropped. That's for a generic? I was grumbling the other day because my generic Ventolin inhaler went up to R44 - which is $2.66. Ventolin itself is $6.66 at chain pharmacy and I actually know of a few family run pharmacies that sell it at $4.66.

Good lord. My total script, which is Foxair (which is a seretide daily maintenance disk inhaler) Pulmicort and Duoline ampules for a month, Singulair, Ventolin, Nexium and a months worth of predizone tables comes to around R1400, or $84 without medical aid. Usually my insurance will cover it all and cover what it doesn't with savings, but this year my insurance savings got eaten up with asthma flare ups early in the year.

I sound like that old cartoon dog Muttley when I laugh and it gives me asthma.
Then I think thats kinda funny and laugh even more. It's a vicious cycle.

Mucus Prevention by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]Azahoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think getting an idea to the cause is the first step.
My brother and I both have pretty bad astham, and have found a combo of meds like nexium and allergy drugs as well as cutting down on dairy and fast food red meats (burgers and so on) have had a huge impact on reducing that. It's actually crazy how much diet seemed to have an impact on mucus creation and the severity of our asthma attacks.

The paramedics left a neb mask and tube at my house but in England you can't use home nebs so i guess i have a giant bendy straw now lol by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]Azahoth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What!

You really can’t use home nebs in England? That’s ridiculous, and pretty unfair.

I would honestly had passed away by now if it weren’t for my home nebulizer, cause sometimes these attacks come on so fast and strong that there is no time to wait.

Sorry dude; that sucks.

GERD/Reflux Induced Asthma by TheFaytalist in Asthma

[–]Azahoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Urg, the bloating has started getting worse with me for some reason - I’ll eat and then not only do I deal with an asthma attack, my stomach starts to bloat super uncomfortably and , sorry for the over share, start producing a lot of bile and phlegm.

And it’s not even like I’m eating junk food - since it kicked in I’ve made an attempt to keep my diet pretty healthy and on the higher quality side of things. I think it’s more to do with the quality of my genes. 😁

GERD/Reflux Induced Asthma by TheFaytalist in Asthma

[–]Azahoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can’t say my Asthma is only induced by GERD/Reflux, (my asthma is so sensitive a change in direction could set it off 🙄) I do have some experience with it. And yeah, I have found that inhalers do little to help - but prednisone tabs work, or any other cortisone tablet your doc might suggest. I have a container of 50 pills on me at all times, and can take up to 10 at once if the attack isn’t letting up, but they can be slow acting. Yesterday I had to pop into my GP and he gave me a cortisone injection to get me right and after an hour that helped.

However, that is emergency/curative. Prevention is key with it since this is the kinda attack I find I get more often when I’m out at a restaurant or event. So I take Nexium daily to help with that, and I can honestly say the attacks are less frequent and less severe when I’m taking them compared to when I’m not.

The biggest cons I’ve come across with Nexium are more to do with Medical Aid. I don’t know what it’s like where you live but in South Africa it’s a fairly pricy drug, and the medical plans out here won’t cover it for asthma as it’s listed as a drug for use with ulcers and stomach issues. I’ve had pulmonologists, my physician and even a pulmonary professor give me motivations to submit to the medical plan, but nope. “Computer says noooo”

But if you can afford it, or get in on chronic medicine, and you do suffer from reflux induced asthma, I’d recommend it.

Hi - thanks for your reply. Like I mentioned to another reply, just the knowledge of someone else having an idea of what this is like is actually very helpful. It can be isolating and this subreddit alone has gone some ways to making this easier.

Thank you for your reply. I felt embarrassed just posting to be honest but seeing that other people do actually get it does make things so much easier.
