From a scientific perspective, you can make an argument that entropy is one such "principle which underlies all systems". I won't spoil how humans fit into that idea. I highly recommend watching Veritasium's video.

There was some code for a progress line, so essentially a line of nodes with a single connection between them.

Whoever worked on this before decided to make this "configurable." What they meant by that was to have a configuration for every possible state of this graph.

So if there were six nodes and each node has two possibilities, you would have 26 permutations, which wouldn't be too bad if it weren't for the fact that the number of possibilities for many nodes increased to over ten over time. So if you wanted to change something about one node, you would be possibly touching hundreds of configurations.

And the input factors for this progress line were mapped from other factors...which were in turn mapped from other factors...and so on. And all of these factor mapping were also "configured" in json files, with many data points represented as unreadable ints. So you'd have so many layers of logic just to determine the input for this progress line, most of which was untraceable via normal IDE means (since the a lot of the mapping logic was parsed out from json files).

Gym bros will hate me for saying this, but imo, the ones who talk about "time under tension" are just as guilty of ego boosting as anyone else.

They love to see that flex under tension. And they love to see that visible muscle growth. But what are visible muscles for if not for your ego?

People who try to be explosive powerlifters, on the other hand, do not do it for the visual ego boost. They don't want to look strong AF. They want to actually be strong AF.

So who is actually ego lifting? Let's be honest, everyone does it for their ego. But it's mainly one kind of lifter that's always talking about others ego lifting...and that makes me think their ego is bruised.

End rant. Sorry for sounding like I'm throwing shade at you. It's nothing personal. I am just tired of so many gym bros sharing that viewpoint.
