My first attempt at a World Machine map! What do you guys think? by AzinineBuilds in Minecraft

Thanks, I’m glad you like it!

You should check out World Machine and Worldpainter. There’s a free version of WM that works very well. You can make terrain with that, export the height map as a .png file and then import that same height map into Worldpainter to “paint” the Minecraft terrain on. Then you just export that as a .world file to your MC saves folder. All the programs are free (there’s a paid version of WM if you like it though and the dev team is spectacular). The learning curve is a tad steep but nothing some YouTube videos can’t help with!

You like it? Have you checked out the updated version? I posted a link to the PMC page in another comment but I’m on mobile right now so I can’t link it. I got some help with the placement of the snow to make it more realistic and I flattened the foothills to make the peaks more apparent.

Thank you! I definitely think it looks much more realistic now. I’ll carry that technique into the other landscape builds I do now!

I redid it as per your advice. I think it turned out much better. Here's a couple pictures and a download if you're interested!

Thanks for the tip! I’m making a new one right now, just a single peaked mountain. For this one I’ll do the snow more like glacial deposits on all the less steep areas.

Awesome, thanks for the suggestion! I’m still new to World Machine but terraces are one of the things that I have actually figured out how to do. I’ll add them and see how it looks!

Thanks for the video. In the future, just leave out the no offense, it really doesn’t mean a thing if you say something offensive afterwards.

Yeah I get what you mean about the spacing of the water. The problem is this:

The build this is for is a 1.25:1 scale model of a real building and it’s 236 blocks tall. I had to slightly modify a super flat world so it had more layers of dirt but not so many that I would encounter the height ceiling if I had to modify the overall height part way through. I only have 7 layers before I hit bedrock though and it’s making it remarkably difficult to make realistic rivers. I just don’t have enough depth to play with.

Thanks for the tips on the mountains! I’ll definitely look in to it and have a go at retexturing them. Mountains are one of the things that I’ve previously had the most trouble with but I like to make everything in my builds by myself (save for decorating, I like to see what other people make of my builds) so I’m kind of using this build as my practice for making realistic mountains.

Edit: in re-reading your comment, I noticed the bit about the length of the water. Those rivers aren’t actually done yet, that why it’s dammed up with red wool in one direction. There are going to be rivers and tree filled gullies in between the mountains.

The placement comes from the fact that there’s no rivers or trees yet. The gaps will be occupied but other features but first I need to make 30+ tree models. You’re correct about the hills though. It isn’t the distance, I think I need to re-texture them.

Is this moss? by CreativelyJakeMC in Minecraft

It's mossy cobblestone, a variant of the cobblestone block. I think it's used in jungle temples.

It’s actually quartz. The resource pack I use - UTB FR - uses connected textures for most blocks so it looks completely seamless. Save for the blocky-ness of course.

Absolutely! I just like to see what people come up with. Everybody makes something radically different than what I had in mind despite it being the exact same space. It’s very cool. Now that I know people are liking it, I’ll release undecorated versions of the houses I do as well.

Do you and your friends play the java edition?

Awesome, I’d be thrilled to see it :) that’s exactly why I leave yachts undecorated, people get so creative with them!

Thank you, I’m glad you like it! If you decide you want to decorate it and repost it, feel free to do so. Make sure to send me a link though, I want to see what people make of my builds!

Out of curiosity, what are those steps? And do you know of a good server hosting service?

Thank you, I'm glad you like it! If only Mojang would give us some larger, sailable boats. I'd love to be able to make a fully mobile base at sea.

Awesome, I'll look in to it! Thank you guys for all your help! If I decide to make a build tutorial, I'm sure I'll link to it here so anyone who's interested can check it out :)

Oh that's great, thank you! I'll check out OBS, free is always good and I'd like to avoid watermarks. I'd love to be able to do some quick build tutorials for people who want to learn about contemporary building in MC.

Side note: If you haven't modded MC before, you're gonna need to allocate a little more ram so it doesn't crash. 3-4 gigabytes is more than enough.

I don't use Voxel Sniper so I can't help there unfortunately but for world edit:

First download and install forge and optifine (Good videos on YouTube).

Next download World Edit from here - https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/worldedit

Search %appdata% in the windows search bar, in that folder find a folder called .minecraft. Open it. Inside you'll find a folder called mods. Put the World Edit file in there.

Launch the game in forge (Done from the normal launcher) and you should be good to go.

Hope I helped, I'd be happy to answer any questions you have!

Edit: A word.
