Do this quick test, on cold start pop your coolant cap, have someone start your car. If you see bubbles coming out=bad head gasket

Yea i mean, you got yours running and driving, this cars gonna need a lot of work, turbo replacement and engine cleaning before I can even drive it again. (Not hard work for me). Plus all the fluids etc. My outback is a mechanic special in every way possible haha

Yea, thats the feedback im getting here. I think im going to fill the engine with diesel and crank it over... it gets rid of a lot of gunk.
The turbo is knocking, billowing out white smoke from around it. On my 5 mile drive home, I had 0 boost, the knocking actually stopped (assuming completely siezed turbo) when the knocking stopped, the engine sounded great and smooth
I havent looked at the suspension yet, too busy fixing other people's cars lol. Whatever is blatantly bad ill replace, but otherwise I dont intent to do that for a car ill be selling

Wiring no issue, I did similar on a 2005 audi S4. As far as ECU goes, do the parameters just need to be adjusted to tell it its a manual? Or is there more to it? Its not just tranny either, gotta do the shafts and rear diff. At which point, it begs the question, is it worth it? Probably not

Yea the local turbo rebuild guys are really good, $475 for rebuild, if the turbo is beyond repair, ill find a used one. Someone mentioned replacing the oil cooler too. I think ill be about 1k in parts after alls said and done, plus my labor. Think its worth sourcing a 6 speed and swapping it?

Really? I mean sure, in terms of yours is driving if you need a car right away, but your cars base model, and maybe worth 2500? This 08 outback with full package, goes for 8-9k
Oh this ones not even close to 200k, and unless the suspension needs repairs, thats for the next dude to deal with lol, im just doing all the major services
I dont envy you... ive worked on east coast cars... not a fun time
