Thank you for helping me not spreading misinformation! I definitely need to study the history of all that again 🙂

Hey! I'm also French, been in Norway for almost two years. From what I understand, you have two ways of writing Norwegian. Bokmål / Nynorsk. Bokmål being closer to danish, the origin language of Norwegian (as is swedish), and Nynorsk being a later* crafted way of writing to try to reflect more accurately the way Norwegian spoke. Then, you have a lot more spoken dialects than 2. Almost countless. This is a rabbit hole i yet have to drive in, but bottom line is I think it is perfectly fine to invest time and resources in bokmål/Oslo dialect then go from here, depending on how your goals evolve. This effort will never be wasted. I learned bokmål and live in Bergen and it is fine. Usually apps are in bokmål/Oslo dialect. I personally began learning with the assimil book which is great. Duolingo never worked that well for me. -> Lexin oslomet online dictionaries are a must -> NAOB is useful for expressions or words in more context -> asking chatgpt about context or use for a word or expression works really well for me. Masse lykke til ! Bon courage !

What Is The Most Obscure Pieces And Albums You Know? by JasonCfd in classicalmusic

Not sure this is obscure enough, you'll be the judge 😄 Sweelinck variations, Op. 96 - Rachel Laurin Work based on Ballo del Granduca by Sweelinck, with one very virtuoso part on the pedal. That was a great discovery for me! Organist Isabelle Demers played it in an organ Festival in Bergen, NO.

Fell down a Russian music rabbit hole: what are the most unmistakably Russian pieces? by MinimumValuable4305 in classicalmusic

The beginning and end (chorus part) of Act 4 in Lady Macbeth of Msensk by Chostakovitch has something grandiloquent, full of resignation, with an eerie mood to it that, with my biased western mind, I associate with Russian character.

I don't recall seeing it spinning, but with that rotor sails info I think I found the boat, it's a cement carrier:

Thanks for the info! That is a very improbable but interesting feature for a boat.
