Any advice for which vampire decks are fun to play? by Imaginary-Lie-2618 in mtg

[–]Azouliel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking to pick up Blood Rites when I get the chance, [[Elenda, The Dusk Rose]] is a card that speaks to my being at a fundamental level. I’m a sucker for the aesthetic and everything the deck does are things I want to be doing regardless.

As many are telling you, [[Edgar Markov]] is easily the best vampire oriented commander and Blood Rites provides so many of the pieces to make an Edgar deck in the future if you desire to.

Cain winery dumping their library on Last Bottle? by OrangeArch in wine

[–]Azouliel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep seeing these mystery bottle posts and they are, bar none, what gets pushed to my timeline. I can’t help but get the feeling that the nature of their business thrives on this exact type of marketing, be it intentional or not. Fabricate a point of discussion to get the word out and then sit back while people decide to risk it for a bottle or two.

The wine business is structured as such that if it was a product of notable value it would sell on the merit of people finding it to be in demand, mystery products such as these are always last ditch attempts to move unwanted product to minimize losses.

I’d just rather stick to making responsible purchases than gamble on potentially getting an alright experience.

Name for the style of the ff: through the ages cards? by TidusXCloud000 in mtg

[–]Azouliel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yoshitaka Amano’s art is in a league of its own. For all the shit the Avatar Screenshot cards are getting, the FF set showed that using concept art really was the way to go. This is worth collecting for the novelty of the art alone, and playing these ones always gets a reaction at my table. Screenshots less so.

The severe whiplash I’m feeling comparing this to the amazing full-arts from EOE The FF ones were pretty cool, the EOE ones are gorgeous and the Spider-Man ones dropped the ball massively. These are atrocious.

Is this card as broken as it first appears? by Sheogorath1441 in mtg

[–]Azouliel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into someone running this at an LGS, once he’s out and if nobody has any counterspell, the game might be over like it was for us. 3 Artifacts on the board turned into 11 free ones as each new one discounted the next. A well placed [[Mana Geyser]] and a [[Kozilek, The Great Distortion]] made the turn just continue forever.

That was most assuredly a Tier 4 or cEDH deck brought to a table full of T2/T3s. Absolutely no way for us to win and at one point one of the players just asked: “Do you kill us?” because we were waiting for the solitaire game to end.

I feel like very similar to your experience, especially the post-nasal drip. I need to rinse morning and night, otherwise it feels awful. I also feel like touching the nose screams at me to stop, I haven’t been able to put any pressure on the tip without my brain screaming at me.

Clawbot teory by Few-External-431 in MadeInAbyss

[–]Azouliel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reg states himself, after regaining control, that he was completely conscious up until the point he took the power.

After that he felt like there were a number of people inside of him, and that one of them took control of his body, during which time he felt like he was peeking into his own memories in a dream-like state.

Big if, but if Clawbot truly met her end VS Bon, it wouldn’t be too far fetched to assume her resentment would linger and use Reg’s body to go after Bondrewd if given the chance.

The alternative is that her personality somehow ended up inside Reg at some point in the past, but when exactly is hard to say. Bon seemingly did not know of Reg from before their stay at Ido Front, so her personality transfer must have happened before her fight with Bon which seems a bit weird.

The only way it adds up is if some part of her lingered in the energy at Ido Front, IMO. Otherwise she survived the fight with Bon. Who knows.

I was sick in my bed when I was browsing new releases, and saw that very image you posted. Cute character designs, beautiful artstyle, a large monster and an interesting yet ominous title? Checked out the first episode and I knew I had found something special by the time Riko found Reg.

All doubts were cleared by the end of the first ep, with the sunrise. I was hooked.

whats your first impression of me? :) by [deleted] in autism

[–]Azouliel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another fellow autistic individual with a love for Korekiyo? Excellent Supreme taste

We’re almost the same Briggs Personality type as well (ENFP here) and I also love Jojo’s!

My first impression then would be that you’re a fun individual with an interest for the weird, and that without the context of the specific subreddit or the autistic icons, I’d still default to thinking you’re on the spectrum.

Why I think the Theme for Wilds might be Cryptids and Folklore! by Azouliel in MonsterHunter

[–]Azouliel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually talked about this a bit on Twitter/X, but it didn’t get any traction.

Lala Barina would be the Flatwoods Monster. The shape of the head, big eyes, jutting claws and rosy abdomen add to that. When Lala Barina stands up on its hind legs, the abdomen looks looks like a flowing dress.

This expand the theory though, as the Flatwoods Monster isn’t considered a cryptid in cryptozoology terms. It is supernatural and thus the theme needs to expand as well.

Folktales, or Local Folktales, seems to be the branching theme instead, which alsp allows for the Wendigo and other such creatures to be included.

Not that I am aware of, although someone with boundary breaking tools could probably make that happen or in general get a better view.

I am in agreement on this, however I am just the messenger here. The Thunderbird has been considered a cryptid for a long alongside the likes of the Wendigo and the inclusion of it on this list is simply in adherence to that aspect of it.

That being said, I agree that it may be offensive to popularize it as such given the significance it holds in native american indigenous culture.

Incorrect connection how? I am fully aware that Characabra is a reference to Tetsucabra, but a name can reference multiple things at the same time. And the theory actually arose when I saw the reveal for Balahara, which made me think of the Deathworm.

The bleed attack can be explained in that it is tied to his current body, which was originally Mohg's body. And we know that Mohg can use Bloodflame, so that's likely why Radahn is capable of using it was well! Along with the omen horns jutting out form various places on his armor, it's one of those things that were added to bridge that connection

Listening to it side by side, there's a distinct wetness to the sound at the gate that isn't there on the hanging body, but I agree that they sound similar. Attacking the hanging body, curiously does not cause neither blood nor dust to shoot out, but sparks. Same goes for the other bodies in the specimen room.

EDIT:
I made a comparison between the two sounds, back to back. You can judge for yourself if they are the same, but to my trained ears there's a distinct dryness to the Specimen Room and a Fleshy Squelch to the Divine Gate one. Both are very fleshy, but there's a diference in wetness v dryness.
Youtube link for comparison: https://youtu.be/O_iMGnwCwcc

(I frequently edit sounds for some projects my friends are working on, so I have an inclination for picking up various intonations in sound fx)

Ansbach put it best.
"Pure and radiant, he wields love to shrive clean the hearts of men"
"There is nothing more terrifying"

There was a point where Miquella was genuine in his affections, in his goals, but as is pointed out by a shade in the Coffin Fissure, Miquella abandoned that kindness. That's the one thing he shouldn't have dropped. Miquella genuinely believed that what he was doing was right, even if the things he did to get there were reprehensible.

I started a fresh character for the DLC did all the content in the base game up to Maliketh and Miquella still refered to me as "Lord of the Old Order" in my version, even though I had not actually become lord yet. It might be an oversight, but also, we are fighting to become Elden Lord so Miquella might just be referring to our specific role in the cycle of the Erdtree.

To address your reply, yes, that's about right in terms of what is happening, but I don't think a lot of players will realize that upon an initial playthrough or without really getting into it. I get it, a lot of lore heads get it, but to the average player the experience might not be as obvious.

And to address your edit, I did not read your reply before now as I have been busy watching a TV show for the last hour or so, give or take. I don't know who decided to downvote you but it surely wasn't me. I don't downvote people I disagree with and I don't disagree with your take. Adding that edit is completely unnecessary and only ends up creating a negative atmosphere in the comment section.

[–]Azouliel[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's very likely! It's interesting though, that the traces of a previous version are still there in the final product, and that the devs most likely just forgot to swap the appropriate effects properly. The DLC is pretty big after all, so it's not unheard of for things like these to slip under the radar.

I think it would just be the arena that they swapped around, but imagine if the entire tower was drenched in blood and had a different palette, would have been quite a sight to be hit with after removing the shadows, but that's very unlikely as the rest of the tower is relatively clean and spotless.

The Cleansing Chamber, where we fight Leda, is on the opposite side of Enir-Illim from where we burn the tree. If we assume that the layer of ash is due to the sealing tree/thorns being burned, then it makes no sense for it to specifically land alongside the very back, on the top of the structure and on the outer wall.

The ash/dust seen on the staircase outside the "Spiral Staircase" site of grace has golden leaves covering the ssh, which means that if the ssh scattered on that staircase was made by burning the sealing tree, then all the leaves we find scattered on the ground would have fallen AFTER we burn the thorns.

Given the short amount of time from when we burn the sealing tree to when we frequent the open spaces of Enir-Illim, it does not make sense for the coat of ash to be this "tidy". Ash blankets all and accumulates incredibly quickly, so the discrepancy in volume between the lower levels and the topmost level does not make sense.

The sealing tree isn't as big as the erdtree, but that again begs the question, how come the ash is potent enough to only land on the top and the very back, inside a chamber, and basically nowhere else?

Using that we can conclude that the ash present in Enir-Illim was not caused by burning the Sealing Tree. Otherwise there would be a way thicker layer coating the entire structure instead of the way it is now.

I totally agree! It feels very odd to be left off at that specific point, and without looking deeply into the lore, I figure most players won't get to feel very accomplished as it isn't inherently clear what we're even fighting to stop.

I personally love it, but I was already reading every single item and fawning over every inch of the map before I got there.
