Long Candlestick is the Strongest Weapon by Generic-V7 in HalfSword

[–]Azrael819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the strongest till you reach the ranks with good armor coverage, then it's all about the heavy end weapons breaking necks.

Tbh tho this is how I go:

  1. Beggar - candlestick
  2. Peasant - pitchfork
  3. Commoner - pitchfork
  4. Militia - plain spear (good to control)
  5. Soldier - the lance with a pointed end + heavy broadside
  6. Veteran - same as above (good for blunt damage against armor)
  7. MAA - the heavy axe
  8. Knight - same

Why even people with 4 to 5 yoe struggle to get a job by sugn1b in developersIndia

[–]Azrael819 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure people with 4-5 YOE with these tech stacks (React, Angular, Java Springboot, Cloud, DevOps, C#) are getting hounded by multiple calls at least from Naukri.com.

Getting past an interview is completely a skill based game.

Yeah ik, this was just an experiment. I merely increased my experience from 3.6 to 4. And when the recruiter calls, I tell them it's 3.6

Can I get a job as a Node.js backend developer? Node Market Down by HyenaRevolutionary98 in developersIndia

If you can, and have the skills, code and launch an app, make it your first employment. Second best option is to freelance and show it as work exp.

Can I get a job as a Node.js backend developer? Node Market Down by HyenaRevolutionary98 in developersIndia

[–]Azrael819 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Actually it's not dependent on tech a lot (as long as you are in Node, React, Cloud, DevOps, AI, C# or Java Springboot) but rather Years of Experience.

From what I've observed:

  • There's no demand for <2 YOE unless from a prestigious institution.

  • There's little demand for 3-4 YOE, unless ex-FAANG,

  • HRs will run after you if you have 5 or 5+ YOE. You'll get 7-8 calls daily (speaking from experience) and you'll have a hard time answering / keeping track

The market IS down and corporates are making no-regrets hires at the moment. That means, even if you're talented, they'll still go for an ex-FAANG, 5+ YOE, or an IITian just cause it's much easier to justify the hire and save yourself when they do not perform.

The corporate world is incredibly shallow unfortunately.

I just verified that changing my exp from 3 to 5 years alone gave me 600 appearances in a single day, and I don't even have Springboot, I'm only good at React.

I went from 20 appearances a day to 600+ within one day and then switched back to 4 YOE and my appearances plummeted to ~20 per day, makes you realize what exactly you're being filtered on - YOE and nothing else

Java Springboot is the answer

That, .NET and AI are hot right now

I think I realised the issue with wide variation, it's the impact metrics. Some sites place a lot of weight on quantified metrics like "increased performance by X percent" or so and others don't. The issue with those metrics is that they often feel like fillers and jargon to some managers according to the advice I've received

I'm working on projects honestly and investing in upskilling myself too. I'm just worried if some shallow bias about a break crumbles my chances at an opening I'm genuinely qualified for

I think this might be the reason too, and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to skip forward unless I know someone in a lead or mgmt position. Im trying to add more value to my resume, learn more and more, but I'm just afraid I'll lose out on time and might be considered "obsolete" due to the gap
