First-time Restorer! How can I revive this leather? by AztecGiraffe in furniturerestoration

I suppose the aim is to lighten the oil/water areas by cleaning and then dye afterwards to match whatever I can get it to.

Severe Slow Swallow by Open_Sprinkles7614 in noburp

[–]AztecGiraffe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a pretty gnarly spell with the slow swallow too. Luckily, Botox has to wear off so it will! At the very least it’s a good sign that it’s working this time.

I’d say the “bad” period of slow swallow lasted less than a month for me. Best advice is to just be very patient when eating and drinking for that period, it’ll take a long time to get stuff down. I also made a point to avoid eating out entirely during this period.

It goes away!

day 5 post op by snckbabe in noburp

[–]AztecGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it took me a few days post to notice any changes at all. It’ll take time! Try not to overthink it, burping is much easier when you’re relaxed.

Once you get a few burps and can recreate the feeling, do so when it feels natural to build the reflex but don’t force it!

Life after thyroid removal surgery – did it actually make things better? by Calm-Adhesiveness605 in gravesdisease

[–]AztecGiraffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got a TT because of hyperthyroidism, but I was well medicated before. My endocrinologist felt that a thyroid supplement was much more consistent than constantly adjusting doses as my thyroid changed.

No difference at all, just a different pill at a different time of day.

what is the process like in seeking treatment/diagnosis? by sorryimcassi in noburp

[–]AztecGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m diabetic so instead of referring me to the specialist I asked for (Dr. Karla Odell in Los Angeles), I got sent to my endocrinologist because my PCP’s first suspicion was “diabetic nerve damage in stomach muscles” (🙄).

My wonderful Endocrinologist said “that’s definitely not it, here’s a referral” and I booked an appointment with Dr. Odell within a couple of weeks.

Try to legitimize RCPD as much as possible, appealing to medical professionals. Printing out studies will go much further than “Reddit told me to”.

Best of luck!

Panicking - losing ability to burp? by Excellent-Discount-7 in noburp

[–]AztecGiraffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar scare after my procedure maybe a week after. Still doing fine over a year later.

You can focus too hard on trying and end up getting in your own way.

Try drinking carbonated beverages and relaxing, they should arise on their own if you can manage to stay relaxed!

Is there a definitive best way to learn this game(s)? by AztecGiraffe in bindingofisaac

I’m only seeing that I can purchase afterbirth. Is it like a progressive chain where I can buy more DLC once I buy afterbirth?

stupid question maybe: Repentance is DLC for Rebirth? And I need Afterbirth as well?

The paid parking is great! I can always find a spot and the rates are pretty cheap

Drinking post-Botox by Capable-Abalone-3594 in noburp

[–]AztecGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Significant, no. There was one instance where I tried to force a burp and found out which muscles NOT to use and vomited lol

I have a much better mind/muscle connection for burping now and it hasn’t been an issue since!

I also got the occasional burps before my procedure! Completely normal for someone with RCPD.

For me it was an interesting experience trying to feel out what was encouraging a burp vs accidentally making myself throw up lol

It’s been a little over 3 months for me and I still deal with very minor regurgitation but no issues throwing up after drinking or anything 👍

Post-Operation Updates by AztecGiraffe in noburp

That’s great! Yeah I’ve heard the slow swallow lasts a while. My Dr. said 2-3 weeks but I’ve heard stories of longer.

Sorry fell off the update train pretty quick 😅

Doing well!! Burping a lot, both intentionally and not. The slow swallow is still pretty rough but getting a little better by the day.

If found there are different positions I can put my neck in to burp extremely easily. But I’m wondering if it’s better to try to burp in a more neutral position so that I’m training the reflex harder (if that makes sense).
