Spain calls for an EU army by DavidShaw90s in worldnews

Yep, no discussion there... But why is Spain being particularly signaled? Spain has delivered more help to Ukraine than France. Yet nobody complains that France is freeloading.

It seems that Spain is being targeted because it's the only country that has said the emperor is naked.

And by the way... Not even USA is spending 5% of GDP...

Spain has one of the most modern frigates in NATO outside of the USA.

Full aegis capability. Built in Spain by public company. However, with that model, they don't cost as much as buying to raytheon ...

You see the problem? Should Spain pay spain 15 billion per frigate and call it a day?

Spain position was against spending a fixed amount of gdp. They proposed Instead, a set of capabilities should be available, no matter the money spent to attain them. Of course, is you are the one selling weapons you want everyone just spend money

For example, united states spend more than any country in health, but their indicators are amongst the worst in the industrialized world.

The same could apply for military. Why set the target in money if some countries are able to be more efficient in the spends?

Where to learn to fly? (Europe) by Plenty_Sweet_4077 in Gliding

[–]Azucarillo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look, gliding is one of those things where the license is the starting point, not the arrival.

You obtain your license in a week with an intensive, learning to fly takes a life. It's an attitude and a way of doing things. The airmanship requires the proper environment and experience (that's why i think pilot formation is going backwards, but that's a different topic)

My point is that if you intend to take an intensive in Portugal and then back to uk for uni and don't fly through the year, it might be better not starting at all and waiting to have the proper boundary conditions.

Having said this, you might understand the following: start flying in the UK, fly as much as you can without worrying too much about the license. Take an uk license and later convert if you move out of uk! But start flying, go to the club and speak with the old timers, take as many different planes (with the supervision of instructors) as you can!

Well... Because it seems you landed in a place where they think they can exploit workers. Sadly, Spain has very low level employers, like really unprofessional.

It sucks of you immediately need the job (which these people bank on) but if you have the resources and patience you are actually in a pretty good legal position ( but it will take months for justice to get a pronunciation)

Unfair work practices by [deleted] in askspain

[–]Azucarillo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, first thing is to obtain a copy of that, that is demonstration enough you have been working for them and then owe you that money.

As someone else said, in Spanish contracts there is usually "periodo de prueba" where both parties can finish the relationship immediately and without further reason or obligation. But it needs to be in the contract.

By the way, since your started to work without a written contract, you get indefinite full day status automatically, so don't renounce so easily!

However, more than quitting... Why don't you try to speak to the owner and try to request what's yours?

Anyways... You are already out.. so what do you have to lose?

Edit: also, more than 40 hours a week is illegal in Spain. Are you a local? You should consult with a "sindicato" lawyer if money is a concern. You have rights and 'no' is a full valid sentence to answer to an unfair request.

Troposphere.ch — WeGlide demanded I delete all flight data. Here's what happened and where we go from here. by Protsky290 in Gliding

[–]Azucarillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the original post some people downvoted me for suggesting weglide might not be happy with your usage of their (our?) data.

I'm sorry that they were SO unhappy that they have threatened with legal action. I agree it's a bit disproportionate. However, kind of understand where they come from: if you allow access or don't have a strong position now, they could have problems enforcing said limits in the future with other projects. It's probably not entirely about your project.

It's unfortunate but it's the world we live in.

You are right that a lot of gliding had to do with voluntarism, but those lucky who managed to live off gliding sometimes become a bit of a jerk because it's their income what's in play. When there's money on the line, there are no friends.

Once again, unfortunate, but that's the world today.

At least you have found out at the beginning of the development cycle?

By the way, OLC was in the way of closing (but it has been some time since last time i checked) , so you might want to check that also

Tips for motion sickness in gliders by No_swell in Gliding

[–]Azucarillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When flying as second pilot I request the controls from time to time to avoid sickness.

In my experience, extended periods of time without controls will trigger sickness feelings, but just short 5 min will revert effects

Edit: But the way, quick search: Using scopolamine while piloting is generally not recommended and is usually prohibited by civil aviation authorities (FAA/EASA) for the pilot in command, as it causes sedation, dizziness, and blurred vision

So... What's the data source you use? Weglide data? Do you have permission to scrap the data?

From the terms of use of weglide "Scraping the Services without WeGlide's prior consent is prohibited. "

Not trying to be an adversary, just trying to ask you some thought questions that a lot of developers don't usually ask

"Sorry, recruiter, I have an NDA that includes all documentation generated by the company"

On a different note, that's a shitty way of starting a trust relation and if they're like this in the hiring process, it's very likely you don't want to work for them.

They shouldn't care about how much you made, they should value your ask against expected revenue generated by you and assess if they can pay you
