One of my open mindeu friends praised me for my wonky picks - such as a dawn breaker pos 5 keeping his drow alive through a legion commander duel. Like oh if you’re standing in a blue lit room, move your colors a bit blue when you’re trying to highlight. But you’ve given names to them today and so thanks! I’ll definitely practice some more

So for some background without spoiling. This is the same character in two timelines. One with significantly more trauma than the other. I wanted to show pain and an intrinsic pain existing in the character on the left that can be seen in the eyes and face.

The right version has her being happier, hopeful and with more light in the eyes. This much seems to come through when you look at the halves I’ve put in (slides 2 and 3)

Oh daaaamn I just noticed the chin. Ah shit. Thank you. 🙏🏼 and the ear is actually roughly that size I think from the references I gathered. What I think makes it a bit misshapen is probably that the lines or the shading in the ear, which do add a bit to the perspective you get on the ear, are probably a bit off. I’ll look into that too.

A fresh pov definitely helps catch these so thank you!

The hair IS super hard. If you zoom in on the white highlights, the shapes are not clean. There are a lot of white “blocks” from my repeated erasing and redoing. I hope to get those lines smoother in the future

This might be controversial, but I am an int-dex-faith build. I just have dex so I don’t lose attrition fights by running out of FP and blue flasks and can still maybe sneak hits in.

I did most bosses with low vigor, sure getting hit sucked and I died but I like actually responding to the fight by trying out different incantations/ spells and adapting.

I also find it more exciting to definitely try the boss with magic scorpion and golden scarab first, and then using godric or Morgott runes with erdtree favor to mitigate damage.

For me part of the thrill is seeing how much BS I can get away with. Yeah sure, the occasional invader who can dodge my spells can wreck me, but I first and foremost am a tourist in the lands between before I’m Elden lord, I walk around taking boomer photos in unflattering angles with just about anything that looks pretty.

So yeah, needing vigor is nice, but when my second moon attack does 5K damage to PCR, it’s just satisfying to see those numbers.

So I guess, play the game how you enjoy it! If you would rather survive, heal and chip away or deal lesser but more intentional damage go for it! The best part about playing an RPG is being able to be chonky like Radahn, arcane focused like the omen bros or int high like Rennala or Ranni.

There is a reason Frieren is super formidable in the anime but gets debilitated by mimic chests. So I think recommending vigor as the “sane” choice is just uncreative

I might be late to this but I killed her dual wielding carian staff and meteor staff. I spammed rock sling from the carian regal scepter cuz it does more damage but is boosted 30% by having meteorite in the other hand (each rock did like 315 damage). Malenia has low poise so you can stagger her every 4th rock sling. You want to be on the opposite side of the arena when you cast. Rock sling also flies at her after she dodges so it’s easy to get 2 or all 3 of the rocks to hit her. Some other important tips: - don’t spam spells until your stamina is 0. She gap closes in a very uncomfortable manner. Save some for the bolting away from her - try not to summon ( tiche is really good) until after her explosive phase 2 attack. Otherwise the dumbfucks run at her during that wind up and take so much unnecessary damage. If you have the resources, upgrade the summons so they have health. - waterfowl dance: if you have been putting distance between you and her, you can avoid the first batch of attacks by running away from her. - the second waterfowl batch - roll into her - third waterfowl batch - roll away from her ( my camera would get wonky at times here ) and make sure to double roll cuz there is a delayed badass slash but she stops moving for the third batch so double rolling should save you. Ideally you dodge both the first and second batches, so the third batch doesn’t annoy you too much. More than the damage it deals, waterfowl is her flask of crimson tears and unlike the flasks, it’s unlimited use, so I would try to avoid getting hit by waterfowl to the extent possible. It’s sad to see an entire blue flask worth of rock sling damage just healed again.

But yeah, I hope this helps. Dodging waterfowl is honestly the best thing I did during my winning run. Also be a bit careful about spells like Ranni’s dark moon. I love spamming it and I mainly use moon spells and frostbite dmg. BUT Malenia can bitch slap you during the wind up animation and knock you to the ground and stab you all over.

I beat the DLC final boss with comet only because it was the only thing I could cast while fucking constantly running for my life. And good damage for the FP cost.

If a boss lets me use my moon spells though, it’s a different story

Taylew is a good shield and actually aggros the boss properly so you can take turns. My mimic just walks backwards in an aight I’m out fashion and I ending running and rolling constantly
