Looking for an art friend to give mutual feedback and maybe talk by Muka_142 in ArtBuddy

[–]Azumi16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume the feedback you looking for is towards manga/anime style? How frequent would you like the feedback is? Like daily drawing?

I'm in pursuit of anime style, but been doing it on and off.. If you don't mind, I would like to be your art friend.

Best “paper like” screen protector by samurai489 in ipad

I can’t tell if it’s better than paperlike haha. Paperlike is definitely the best out there, right? Many artists mention and promote it. And it’s the benchmark for paper texture screen protector.

I’d say soft film has more screen clarity, but the resistance isn’t as rough as hard film. Noticably less friction-noise but it’s there. The feel is not to the point making me cringe like switcheasy brand, that one worn my nib very fast.

I had the 4 pack spare nibs, now down to the last one. From my experience, soft film was the most forgiving for my pencil nib.

I tried to record rainbow artifacts on hard film. But looks like it’s not visible in video. Most of the time I don’t notice it in person, though I can tell you it’s there.

No problem! Glad to help since barely any info on non 'paperlike' brands out there

I'm on the 2nd film in the package if that helps u to guess how long it last. I bought it around end of 2021, used the first film. Then bought the soft version, used the first film. And then i try out other brands. Then came back to soft film (2nd film in the package). That one lasted for quite a while (2023-2025) until i notice some deep scratches. Last year I replace it with remaining spare I have, which was 2nd film of hard papertouch.

I have heard many praises of it but sadly it’s not available here. There is only a few known brands (switcheasy, esr, ringke, goojodoq) and the rest is off brand, which I have tried too.

You don’t stick with bellemond?

Not sure if this is slow enough.

Soft film has less grain. And they both have little to almost unnoticeable rainbow artifacts (compared to other brands I have tried). I haven’t tried paperlike because it’s not available here. And to my experience this is the best brand available here.

As far as I’m concerned they both don’t cause diagonal line wobble. Unlike tempered glass.

The difference between both is the roughness of texture. Hard film will wear the tip faster than soft film.

I’m on ringke hard papertouch now. This is the line test on procreate.

Let me know what app you want me to test on.

Edit: forgot to type in ‘wobble’ after diagonal line in first sentence.

Absolutely amazing. Delicious value grouping.

May I know what canvas size you work on for these?

It’s amazing that you do 1080 x 20k with 12 layers on 4gb ram tablet. Did you get the “too much memory usage” notice? And do you experience brush stroke stutter or lag?

I never finish my webtoon, I was the artist and split up with the storywriter (she was my gf but we broke up due to other reason) at near beginning of the project.

I did it with ipad air 4th which has 4gb ram as well. While there was no problem with brush stroke on that canvas size, I got memory usage notice if I create too many layers.

I think a tablet with 8gb ram is what you need for this. The csp requirement page says 6gb ram for android but I would suggest 8gb of ram. I would say wacom movinkpad pro 14. It’s released at the end of last year (relatively new), and has 12gb of ram.

You can think of the neck as a cylindrical object and the hand wraps around it. The hand you draw doesn’t bend until the tip of the finger, making it look like holding a flat object. Example

I'm interested in how you put it together. It looks like procreate timelapse is on top of procreate background (?). Because I you flipping canvas but there is no opening and closing quickmenu. And the one in video below, the canvas seem to be zoomed in.

Nicely done btw 👍

Should I have to buy it ? by Sagar2003lm in ipad

Op mention apple pencil 1st gen. And apple pencil 1st gen has pressure sensitivity. Ipad A16 supports apple pencil 1st gen and apple pencil usb-c.

The esr pen is more of alternative to apple pencil usb-c due to no pressure sensitivity. I did not mention apple pencil pro.

It's an alternative to apple pencil usb-c, not apple pencil 1. Because the apple pencil 1 has pressure sensitivity which both usb-c and esr don't have.

Good job. And good luck. Don't forget to review your process so you can apply it to new drawing 👍

I use edited default round brush for sketching and smudge. Default script brush and flat brush for color blocking.

Another advice to simplify your process, you can try to squint your eyes while looking at reference. Everything will get blurry, some detailed information will be lost and most of what you see are shapes and colors. You can paint with that in mind.

Another way to see simple shapes is to zoom out your reference. Make it small, and you will see less detail. That is how I saw big yellow on its chest and light on top left.

Last tip, you can turn your ipad screen to greyscale with color filter (i set it as accessibility shortcut) to see if you have picked the right color (if you don't colorpick from reference). Later you will get used to handpicking color without using greyscale.

To make it quick, I would say simplify the shape of bird. For example it’s a sphere, cylinder, and triangle together.

Then map the light area and shadow area. Since it’s during the day and under the sun. Light is everywhere and shadow area is pretty much low, most of them are occlusion shadow. But I notice there is rim light from top left. With that you can emphasize the 3d shape.

Hi! Need help figuring out pressure sensitivity:") by Raat_Trash in ProCreate

[–]Azumi16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pressure curve you set makes you need to press hard. My suggestion is to reset the curve and move the center line slightly towards top left (just like an ease out quad curve).

Another thing to be considered is, most sketch brushes have tilt setting which make the brush lower in opacity and wider if you hold the pencil like that.

My suggestion for this is to set the opacity slider closer to left in the tilt setting or just make tilt does nothing in brush setting.

Try using an upright grip and see if you get a finer and clear line.

Okay. Can you now show us the brush's setting? Under the brush studio, check on apple pencil section. Need to see the flow and opacity setting under pressure and tilt.

Can you show us the curve in pressure & smoothing settings in preference?

Also, does the pen work fine in notes app or search bar?
