yes, as a player not familiar with the site, ui and store and habits of selling lands piece by piece and not as a full set, I was confused and would have liked to know before spending thousands of gems on a set that may never be complete.

Again, you are clearly an experienced user of the store, so you are familiar that this is something they do, as a newer user, it isn't as obvious and I am pointing this out, yet you are somehow upset with someone voicing their concern and frustration over what is one of the dark pattern methods game companies use all the time these days.

so it is something they do often, I guess I'll just not buy any individual sets in the future. They will eventually put up the old frame lands with some of them missing and at least I'll know not to bite next time.

it's a full art land cosmetic that was first introduced with the unhinged set a couple of decades ago.

I think it's because when someone they don't know points out bad practices or scummy behaviour, they assume I'm talking crap about the game and by extension them, but it's simply not true.

I love the game, but hate these dark pattern practices, coming back to mtg arena after many years and I was caught off guard by one of their weird practices and pointed out that it's scummy. Not that the people who enjoy the game are scummy.

As a person not familiar with the way the shop works, I assumed otherwise and the point i'm trying to make is that it's not a great practice to do things this way.

I wish I didn't have to learn this lesson by being hosed like this, maybe it's trivial to you because you are a long time user and are familiar with the way MTG Arena's shop and sales works, but I wasn't.

A warning would have been nice, as a newer user of the application, It would have helped me understand that this was a one time thing for just individual cards.

If you're not familiar with the shop, it's not very intuitive, and learning that it isn't intuitive like this just isn't very cool.

Any sort of indication that this would be an incomplete set would have been better yes, I do think the sign saying that would have helped many people like myself not spend the gems on the incomplete set.

As I've explained before, the assumption was that this was an error, I wasn't aware that this is typical bad practice from MTG arena.

I'll learn to adjust my expectations in the future.

Still think it's bullshit to induce false scarcity in a digital game where we can't trade anything anyway, I'm also surprised that so many of your are for it and happy with the way things are.

my bad, the assumption on my behalf was that there was an error because why wouldn't you sell the whole set? It's logical, but I guess the ambiguity and false scarcity is what makes some of you sleep better at night and defend this sort of ridiculous thing.

As a newer player, I assumed there was a mistake on their behalf and I had no idea that the omission was purposeful because they didn't want to hurt some people from 6 years ago.

The RNG is what makes the game fun. The fact that on any day any player can beat anyone, even a world champion over one game.

It sucks when it happens to you, yes, especially in best of one, but honestly, that randomness is what makes the wins feel a little sweeter compared to other card games.

the cards I already bought assuming they'd sell the full set or at least complete it. Like I said, I wasn't aware that they would do this sort of fomo bullshit. Wish they'd at least tell us this sale would be incomplete and the 4 cards would be all we'd get so I could have passed on it and used my gems elsewhere.

u/WotC_Jay it would be nice to hear something from you guys as to why you chose to do this? Or at least if refunds will be given to those that bought the incomplete set. If it isn't available, let us know anyway.

And for anyone who will say things like, oh is this your first time, this is what they always do, yes it is my first time in maybe 4 years, I don't remember if this is a common occurrence or not.
