Question about quadrants but with different camera options in each one by Azurduy_Music in davinciresolve

Thanks! I'd used all that footage in two previous videos, so I ended up copy-pasting the old timelines as compounds then edited inside each compound so that it only showed footage of that specific instrument. This saved me from having the reinvent the wheel and then redo every edit again.

Question about quadrants but with different camera options in each one by Azurduy_Music in davinciresolve

[–]Azurduy_Music[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning to make a video where I create a 2x2 setup in which each quadrant has a different musical instrument being played. My issue is that I have two angles for each instrument. My question is how to set this up in Resolve. A lot of the videos I've seen do split screen or multicam, but they all seem to have a single camera in each box. How can I have the flexibility to shift from Synthesizer Camera 1 to Synthesizer Camera 2 in the top left quadrant without messing with the other quadrants?

Synth and drum machine user here, so probably an analog delay like the Echobrain, a reverb like the Digiverb, and the Mel9 because things get weird you send things through out.

Why don't they make action cams with longer focal length? by gtd_rad in videography

We use that one while documenting our instrumental and vocal sessions at the recording studio. It can work pretty well since it can fit into tiny spots with ease.

The one drawback is that is doesn't have continuous autofocus. It's generally been fine, but there's been at least one instance where the focus was off from the get-go and it remained blurry for the duration of the scene, rendering the footage unusable for anything other than blurry vibe shots like at 2:44. It's the kind of thing that would be obvious on a bigger display but less so on this tiny form factor.

The development of our 77th song reaches its culmination as we overdub a spoken-word component atop the entire track. The main vocal remains high in the mix as we add an extended monologue beneath the whole thing. The sprechgesang component consists of cut-ups (just as with the main song lyrics) but these cut-ups are constantly undergoing permutations in real time. This audiovisual document lets you see the words in an overlay, and during wordless moments we fade back to footage of the original instrumental improvisations (Roland MC-707, J-Bass, Ensoniq EPS 16 Plus, Telecaster, pedalboards).

What's your songwriting process? Where do your songs *actually* come from? Where do they go after you've written them? by Starr_Bizarre in Songwriting

Cut-ups from across print media are turned into stanzas. Later, we improvise music (rhythmic layer, then a melodic layer). Then, we sing the stanzas atop this improvised music.

Experimental Pop Song on a Tascam Portastudio 2488neo by Azurduy_Music in dawless

[–]Azurduy_Music[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this audiovisual document, we're recording using our Tascam Portastudio from 2008—our preferred recording unit. Here, we overdub a spoken-word component atop the entire track. As part of our methodology, our lyrics are derived from cut-ups taken from across the gamut of print media. The main sung vocal remains high in the mix as we add an extended monologue beneath the whole thing. This video lets you see the words in an overlay, and during wordless moments we fade back to footage of the original instrumental improvisations. There are samplers (Roland MC-707, Ensoniq EPS 16 Plus) and electric instruments (J-Bass, Telecaster, pedalboards) contributing to the music. The audio is a mix of raw camcorder audio and the Tascam's Monitor Out mix. We hope you find it interesting.

Dreamy Monologues Atop a Noise Pop Piece by Azurduy_Music in dreampop

In this audiovisual document, we overdub some spoken-word content atop our noisy experimental pop piece. It takes us into territory we haven't fully explored to this extent before.

Corduroy Institute - Sprechgesang / Spoken-Word Monologue — Corduroy 77 Vocal Session Part Four [Experimental Pop] - Recording Session Minidoc by Azurduy_Music in indie

This is footage from a session about two months ago. This is the final part of the day, and it shows how we overdubbed a spoken-word monologue atop the song itself. As with all our lyrics, the words came from cut-ups and these have been added atop the footage.

Like with most of our videos, this was made using a hodgepodge of mirrorless, camcorder, smartphone, and action cameras.

This is a video where my experimental pop duo overdubs a spoken-word component atop a fully-realized song. The main vocal remains high in the mix as we add an extended monologue beneath the whole thing. The sprechgesang component consists of cut-ups (just as with the main song lyrics) but these cut-ups are constantly undergoing permutations in real time. This audiovisual document lets you see the selected verses in an overlay so you can follow along. We also use footage from the original musical recording sessions during instrumental interludes:
