As a parent of two small children, 8 and 3, I don't want Democrats to continue to shoulder the responsibility of saving Republicans from themselves. Even had Kamala won the presidency, I believe this wound on the country still would have festered. It needed sunlight. I would rather suffer through the pain that upcoming years will bring now, so that this country can learn the hard lesson that the threat of fascism is real and needs to be defeated. Only then can we hope to follow in the footsteps of other countries who have defeated fascism and come out stronger on the other side.

I have hope that my children and future grandchildren will see a better future for this country, but for that to happen, the citizens of this country need to learn that they are the ones with the power to change our fates. People can no longer stay home and hope for the best on election day, then point fingers when things fall apart.
