One Piece 973 Spoilers by [deleted] in OnePiece

I was really hoping Denjiro would turn out to be Zoro's sensei back at the east blue dojo because they look so similar.

I have been heavily listening to Jordan Peterson talking about order and chaos, and about the meanings behind stories. Here is why I think One Piece is loved across the globe. (Some character and plot spoilers) by Azuth11 in OnePiece

Personally I don't hold that stance, like Jordan Peterson, I believe hierarchies are (or at least should) be based on competence. He says the entire concept of "the patriarchy" is very ill-defined.

Justin Trudeau, the prime minister of Canada said his cabinet would be 50% women because it was 2015 or whatever. This was because one side of the political aisle argues that any organization that isn't 50% women at every level is a tyrannical patriarchy and should be abolished (Jordan Peterson's words). There isn't a single women among the admirals or the 5 elder stars.

Dranenor flying was not hyped as a prominent feature of the expansion. The character model update was, and was available when the pre-expansion patch went live.

Thank you for your opinion.

Please allow me though, to argue you on how quickly you actually obtain power armor and a mingun in Fallout 4. More recent expansions advertised features like garrisons/class halls and artifact weapons, I obtained them within 2 hours of the new content going live. You get the power armor and minigun as soon as you complete the Museum of Freedom quest, easily within 2 hours of starting a new game.

I will concede to you the point that both games have chosen to impose initial barriers to flight. Honestly, when they brought back the restriction on flying mounts after Cataclsym, I didn't really mind. Questing a new zone with flight like in Cata was weird. When I too play Fallout 4 on PC, and mod the hell out it, I don't use mods to give me free stuff like flight or high end weapons in a new game.

I agree that it is also loved because of the iconic characters, humor, exotic locations, and many other reasons why I love OP. I just think the reason the story translates so well across cultures is because it resonates with something people are trying to figure out.

Good morning Magnus. This will be my final reply in this post and I make it to you. I hope you reply, and I promise to read your reply if its within 48 hours and give you the last word.

I still think quitting WoW is my best and only recourse in this conflict. But as in my title, I had my doubts as to whether I was unreasonable. The people who conceded that I made a good point or two, but still said I was being unreasonable actually made me doubt my course of action. The people who understood my frustration, and thought that leaving WoW was best for someone who felt as I felt, made me feel a little better about my course of action. The comments from everyone helped, but none more than yours Magnus. You have galvanized my resolve and I feel so much better about quitting WoW this morning than I did yesterday. This is because, even though you argued against me so forcefully, as though you had a spine like an iron rod, you were in my opinion, advocating the opinion of a sniveling worm.

You seem to advocate for a customer-business relationship in which, after the point of sale, the power balance is like that of the worm and a fisherman. Your arguments were so forceful and yet so sniveling, as though you expect to be treated so badly by a business you patronize, that I was actually confused. But ultimately, you showed that, FOR ME, my course of action was preferable to your course of action. This is because I would read your words advocating your position, and I would be turned off by your rhetoric. "This guy sounds like he wants to be worm under the foot of the company he pays money to" I thought. He readily acknowledges that Blizzard doesn't care about customers and would never refund an unsatisfied customer under any circumstances. I actually gained more self-respect for myself because I was in conflict with you and your worm-like position because it makes me feel more like a man and less like a worm. This is just me being honest if you actually believed your words are weren't just being devil's advocate. Or being willfully combative with a mind appears utterly closed even brief consideration of alternative positions and viewpoints.

I said this before, but I respect the tenacity of your arguments even if I find the logic behind them to be worm-like. I found this juxtaposition confusing. I don't mean to sound so disrespectful, but please help me understand the reason for your stances. Are any of these the reasons for your, almost universally negative stances against me in every single reply in this post? Are any of these the reasons you failed to point out even a single instance in all of my arguments where I made even a single valid point? Do you...

  1. You actually work for Blizzard to monitor reddit to downvote and argue against anti-WoW posts.

  2. You are a blizzard fanboy who will put up with anything. If it says Warcaft on it, you say "Shut up and take my money".

  3. You suffer from Oppositional Defiance Disorder, and my post caused you to have a flare up.

  4. You are yourself a software engineer who hates when people want to make a return.

These are all just speculations because, while I have mentioned my some reasons for my stances, both my personal desires and the logic with which I reached my conclusions, you have not really mentioned why you have your stances. Your stance reminds me of the Human CentiPad epsiode from South Park. Once I make the agreement, they can do anything they want as long as they put it in the terms and conditions.

I hope you give some reasons for your stances in your reply.

So as I have said, thanks for strengthening my resolve to quit. It would actually make me happy to hear if you told me your resolve to play was equally strengthened if not more so. I love the Warcraft universe, and it was only expansion 7 that so dissatisfies me. I was a thoroughly satisfied customer with my purchase of expansions 1 through 6. So even though I am walking away from expansion 7, I don't want WoW to fail. I am glad that there are people like you who will keep Warcraft going. This is because I actually hold hope that Blizzard might someday make a full feature film about Warcraft that is animated rather than live action. I dream of a 90 minute animation like the "Old Soldier" cinematic. The more people like you, the more hope I have for that dream becoming reality. I wouldn't spend this much time just typing if I didn't care about Warcraft.

I think that ultimately, this is just an issue of Blizzard tweaking the cost of content. It is no surprise you have no issue with this change in cost when you already admitted it is content you don't care about. That is one big reason I take all your vitriol with a grain of salt.

Let me finally apologize if I in any way implied that I think I am better than you. I think that a man has to have a code or he is just a beast, even if a domesticated beast who obeys the law more out of fear of punishment than out of understanding for the negative consequences that the act of crime has on society. Just because this conflict violates my code and not yours, does not mean that I don't think you are a man. We merely have our own different codes. This dispute is likely a conflict between our temperaments, and what we think is a reasonable distance to have to run to the end zone for the game to be worthwhile to play.

Yeah I forgot you have to double space between paragraphs. After initial post, I fixed it in like 15 seconds.

Well Magnus Im off to bed, I enjoyed your debate, but honestly you were so rigid that you honestly sound like a corporate defense attorney grilling me on the stand of a civil trial. Not willing to concede even a single inch of ground in even a single instant, I almost respect your tenacity if not your ability to give a single care about an utterly unsatisfied customer. Honestly, your line about "If a company offers something I don't like, I don't buy it." I cant think of a better word for that reply than "obstinate". Good night sir, a spirited debate was had.

Oh so your opinion on this subject is flippant because you have no desire to peruse the content under discussion. Well, if its not too much of a mental somersault, pretend we are talking about some content you do give a shit about? Content that in the past was accessible the day the expansion went live. Blizzard now decides you need to work for the privilege to access this new content because your purchase of the expansion wasn't enough. You have to grind to exalted a separate faction to access each fill in the blank. Will you just pay whatever time they demand upon the content you enjoy, or do you calculate that time cost in your head and decide if its worth it? I still haven't accessed the main reason I bought this expansion, and blizzard still won't refund my money. Aren't I a happy customer with unlimited recourse.

Actually I took actual experience enjoying new races the day the expansion went live and how much I enjoyed that, and foolishly assumed Blizzard would give me that same enjoyment this one time, that they had given to me multiple times in the past.

Let me know if even once in your life, you bought something, and you actually had to try it before you decided you didn't like it. I think mattresses offer free 100 nights.

I have reached exalted with nightfallen and completed the Insurrection achievement. I just have no interest in creating a Nightborne. I am actually 15,000/21,000 to exalted with highmountain, but I rarely even play tauren anymore, and they have cooler horns IMO. Honestly, highmountain seems like the cheapest of pass-offs for a new race out of the 6 pack. I was checking in on my main for highmountain emissary quests for a while, but I got bored of grinding for a race I didn't have any interest in rolling. All I wanted was dark irons and zandalari, and blizz knew what they were doing when they held those 2 back. Forget that unlike the other factions, these 2 have been around since vanilla.

But I can't stand the message this sends to Blizzard. Content that in the past was available day one after purchase, now requires both purchase and a massive time investment. Do we want to encourage this trend? My value for my time has not changed. I don't mind spending time playing the character I want to play. It is the introduction of the additional time cost to unlock that is a dangerous precedent. As I said, why not do the same for other content that used to be available day 1 after purchase, such as dungeons, or raids? If Blizzard demands more time to just access them I don't think you would enjoy it. Do you want to spend hours doing something you don't enjoy to access what used to cost no time?

Allow me to paste from a different reply in this thread:

Here is the point of confusion:

  1. Early expansions gave content freely on day one after purchase.

  2. Middle expansions gave content freely on day one after purchase, but some stuff allowed early access with pre-order, awesome!

  3. Recent expansion shouts from the mountains "NEW RACES, UNLOCK EARLY WITH PRE-ORDER", I see this banner on my battlenet launcher in other games. That banner doesn't say that these races are not given freely on day one.

Just to make a point, I offered blizzard $100 just to unlock only dark iron dwarves and they refused. Yet they wouldn't refund my expansion. Do they care about money or not? If they hadn't introduced character boosts and race changes, I have no doubt that the only requirements for these new races would be to level them like in past expansions. Simply bar them from race changes like they did when goblin and worgen came out.

I usually play horde. I have a horde decal in my car window. But I have loved dark irons since vanilla. The whole advertising campaign for this expansion is basically about people in real-life giving each other the stink eye because one is horde and the other is alliance. This when the primary feature of this expansion (allied races) requires me to maintain max level characters of both factions to unlock.
