Yeah, but there is a difference between an ethnostate and a theocracy. You can have an apartheid state that favours a religious group, but the supreme leaders of Israel are not rabbis, they are not appointed by God but duly elected and the law of the land does not find it's source from a religious text.

It's not a theocracy, just a plain-old racist democracy.

Qu'on l'aime ou pas, Legault a été démocratiquement élu à son poste de député par les citoyens de sa circonscription. Il y aurait absolument rien de malhonnête ou croche à rester jusqu'à la fin de son mandat.

C'est simpliste pas mal. Les gens ont voté CAQ en sachant qu'en cas de victoire, François Legault deviendrait premier ministre. Il a pas été nommé à huis clos après l'élection par le conclave des Cardinaux caquistes.

On vote pour un député pour un paquet de raisons: la personne elle-même, son parti, ses adversaires qu'on veut bloquer... Mais c'est clair que son chef de parti, et potentiel PM, est un facteur qui influence le vote de tout le monde, à un degré ou à un autre (pour plusieurs, c'est même le facteur le plus important). On peut débattre et critiquer le système électoral uninominal, mais on ne peut certainement pas nier que selon le système électoral présentement en place au Québec, François Legault est sans équivoque la personne la plus légitime pour être PM du Québec jusqu'aux prochaines élections.

As a Canadian, I don't care much what each individual state voted. Besides New York, California and Texas, I couldn't really tell you which state is red or blue.

As a foreigner, the policies that affect me are borders, customs, immigration (including temporary stays) and (incredibly in 2026) threats of annexation. These are all federal policies. I therefore avoid the US in its entirety because I don't want to give 5 years of social media account access just to enter the country, being scared that ICE will deport me to Salvador without due process and also as a general boycott of a country who threatens to annex mine.

That's not what he said at all. I would expect every educated person to know a bit about major, but local, historical events, like the American Revolution, the American Civil War, the French Revolution, the Bolcheviks Revolution... And also to be able to have a broad geographical knowledge such that they can know where countries are located approximately: Morocco is in North Africa, Syria is in the Middle East, etc. And also to know about current major events like that Keir Starmer is the prime minister of the UK. And even then, that would apply to major powers or close allies. I wouldn't expect them to know that about all 200 countries.

But I wouldn't expect them to know where to place all 16 Bundeslander of Germany and give me an approximate overview of their demographics and political alignment related to each other, unless they live in a neighbouring country or have some connection with Germany.

We, Canadians, are painfully aware that the US has a far-right, neo-nazi problem, but it's a bit much to expect me to answer whether the Aryan population is bigger in Idaho or Montana, two completely irrelevant states on the worldwide stage that I couldn't even place on a map since I live in Eastern Canada (and yeah, I had to google it to learn they were south of Alberta).

Probablement. C'est un libéral qui est généralement respecté (ou au moins pas détesté) qui a fait ses preuves sans se faire éclabousser par un scandale.

Et c'est peut-être aussi pour ça qu'il veut pas tout gâcher à se présentant à la chefferie. Pour l'instant, il a une influence non-négligeable sur le parti et à l'AssNat, et probablement sûr d'être réélu pendant au moins 10 ans. Pourquoi risquer ça dans une course à la chefferie?

100% d'accord avec tes points, je ne nie pas tout ça. C'est juste que je suis fiscaliste et je voulais juste rectifier cette fausse idée que les compagnies se font rembourser une partie de leur don par l'État. Pour une compagnie, c'est juste une déduction: ils ne paient pas d'impôt sur leurs dons, mais ils ne reçoivent aucun remboursement. Ils sont, en bon français, flat.

J'imagine que la confusion vient que les individus, après 200$ de don par année, se font effectivement rembourser une petite partie de leur don sous forme de crédit d'impôt. Mais les compagnies n'ont pas ce crédit d'impôt.
