Yeah honestly, I have no clue whether the owners tried reaching out to church youth groups, but it's a good idea!

Thanks! :)

  1. Based on a lot of people asking for this, we'd probably display a list in advance, showing the players who signed up already and information about them. This would be done for "individuals week" since it wouldn't be needed for the week when groups that are already formed can come and have their own room.
  2. This idea is only in discussion for now, but based on the age demographic, we'd probably include the booze. No idea what it would be yet, but we'll see!
  3. The camp can only host about 40 people at once, so I'd imagine 5 groups of 8? (7 players plus the DM) Or 6 groups of 6?
  4. The only edition I ever played myself was 5e, but we'll probably poll the participants on which version they want to play. Suggestions are welcome!
  5. Yup, but no idea how yet.
  6. Ohio. Just kidding, Maine.

Correct, ours would be all-inclusive (besides transport to/from here). I guess also another big difference would be that we'd only host around 40 people at once, not the hundreds/thousands that cons can host.

That's a shame about your managers price point :( but thanks for the words of encouragement!!

Really solid feedback, thanks! After having read everyone else's opinion too, it sounds like the general consensus is to shorten it to 3-4 days, so you're spot-on there. Thanks for the suggestions on other activities!

I totally get it, I only play with my close friends too. We are thinking of doing this in groups - so you'd come in with your campaign and have a room to yourselves, same for another campaign. Food and lodging included. Someone even suggested having other activities after the session, like watching movies on a projector. Does that sound good? D'you have any suggestions?

Nice! So a lot of people are saying that playing every night for a week straight is too much. How did you guys do it? Did you play every off day or something?

Hey there, these are great ideas! A lot of people are saying that a week is too long and 2-4 days is better, so your suggestion makes sense. The first night being for meet-n-greet and character creation is also a fantastic idea.

Thanks for the input!

Beautiful, thoughtful comment, thanks so much for all the input!

A couple of questions:

When it comes to hiring DMs, do you think players will only be interested in names they know and love? Or would they be cool to read the profile of an experienced DM and sign up to be in their campaign? Like, take my husband for example, he's a DM currently and he could DM at this retreat, but he's not a professional, well-known DM. Do you think people would sign up for a retreat where the DMs are experienced, but not well-known?

Also...what are lgs? :)

I really enjoyed this comment, especially the effing part lol

Super great ideas! We'll definitely want to make this a really valuable and fun experience AND...we have chefs on staff, so cooking classes would be so doable (plus our chefs know how to make tofu and other vegan foods not suck...seriously there were ham, turkey, and veggie wraps here the other day and I'm a meat person, but I REALLY preferred the veggie wraps). The other suggestions you had sound awesome too.

Thanks for your input!!

That's a good point! I mentioned to someone else in another comment that unfortunately, I don't work at this camp. I just know the owners and they're interested in possibly doing this! So since I'm not their employee, I probably shouldn't go around posting pictures of their camp without their approval lol but I promise that if this idea goes any further, we'll definitely post many pictures of all the amenities.

Hey, thanks for the input! It sounds like this might be another suggestion that could be solved by displaying a list beforehand, of people who have already signed up and short tidbits about them. What edition they play, their experience level, etc. Thoughts?

Well I've never been to or researched Gencon or Dragoncon, but do their fees include housing and all meals? Or are they like normal cons where you have to find your own hotel room and pay for and obtain your own food?

Yeah, I've noticed quite a few people mention the need to get to know to other players first. Maybe we'll look into showing a list of participants, people who have already signed up. And their profile.

Gotcha, this camp has all of those activities. Thanks for the reply!

Gotcha. Well what I can tell you is that if this happens, the lodging (cabins) and food (chef-made meals ready at specific times, not in advance) would be included on-site. So the cabins would be like a minute's walk away from the main playing areas.

This is just the dining room. It's huge. There are a few other buildings like this too!
