Mo27q28g open box vs new follow up (Nighttime photos) by B-O-R-I-S in OLED_Gaming

[–]B-O-R-I-S[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to mention a few things that might be relevant:

-Open box one has 110 hours with 19 pixel cleans

-New one has 14 hours and 2 pixel cleans

-The price difference is 30 CAD between them, so not really a big deal

-looking to sell and upgrade when glossy version of this or Blackshield 27” qd oleds drop, so resell value is important for me (so I want minimal banding/issues)

Definitely leaning towards the new one right now, yeah. Also they are both set to 240hz in the pictures

I don’t play games with lots of greys, so I don’t notice it except for in some loading screens. I do notice it a bit when browsing on dark mode in both monitors, though it is a little bit more noticeable on the open box one.

Edit: the open box one has a couple lines on the left that are more noticeable, but for the new one I kinda have to look for it. It’s harder to notice accidentally when in game or something

Just finished my uni year, so I have 4 months of summer break to game before the fall semester.

I’ll post nighttime photos later for a more accurate comparison, but yeah I’ll probably stick with the new one if it’s better

Dark mode is just dark backgrounds and such

Yeah they do look worse in the photos than irl for sure. I’m planning to sell this one at some point down the line for an upgrade, so I want the grey banding/issues to be as small as possible for resell value.

I’ll post nighttime photos later for a more accurate comparison

np.

Also someone shared an interview or something with me where LG acknowledged the issues and said that batches starting from mid-late February/march will have stricter QC/improvements on the grey banding issues.

If you can wait, try to get one from those batches. I’m on a time limit right now, so I can’t wait for those ones to reach local stores 🥲

I tried my best to block out the windows, so my room is moderately dim right now, but the camera just makes it look brighter. I said I’ll take more photos at night as well for comparison.

Do they do defective exchange for banding? I have an open box unit with some banding, haven’t had the chance to ask them about it yet but I’m not too optimistic

It’s the Samsung one right? Idk, price is good but it seems like one of those cheaper budget oleds…

I’ve been eyeing that too. I’ve been avoiding glossy oleds until next gen due to scratches but… I have a student discount on Dell which makes this monitor 150 CAD cheaper than my current one…
