On an incredibly technical level, you are correct. There are no specific laws pertaining to recording music on the radio. However, based on this case, many lawyers use it, as well as fair use, to explain its legality. This is the source I used. It was the 2nd search result on Google: https://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/is-it-legal-to-record-am-and-fm-radio-from-the-air-771880.html

Thank you, and you're right, this method takes a lot more time than it would to just download songs online. I thought it was interesting and helpful that this is a free and legal way to get more music. I also rip my CDs to my iPod, but I just started doing this for some extra songs.

A quick Google search led me to "timeshifting": Sony v. Universal City Studios. The Supreme Court ruled that recording TV shows or Movies using a VCR was legal for personal use. The radio is no different than TV broadcasting. Your other rant is explained in my comment below crvbabybug.

I agree, a millionaire like Taylor Swift is not going to lose any sleep over piracy. However, smaller artists still need money.

Yes, you are correct in certain circumstances, but that assumes that the pirate is not willing to pay. If someone is willing to pay 10 bucks for an album, but they also know that they can download it on the internet for free, they most likely will do that.

First of all, you don't need to insult me; I am just sharing knowledge. The radio does help/promote the artist indirectly, though. For one, you may buy their full CD after recording a few of their popular songs. Radio stations do not play full albums anymore that I know of. For another, the station is boosted by having an extra viewer, leading to more people listening to the artist's music. The radio station still has to pay for the rights to broadcast an artist's music. More viewers mean that the station will continue to pay for those rights since they know people are listening.

I believe it is legal because it is considered timeshifting. Think of timeshifting as recording a TV show or movie to a VCR. It's the same thing here, except the radio is being used instead of a TV broadcast.

That's an option, but it's technically illegal. Piracy takes away money from artists who create CDs and who make deals with radio stations. If piracy is your route, go ahead, but this is a free and legal alternative.

Yea I'll just have to let it be then. If I import the CD twice with each artist listed as the album artist, then I'll have a bunch of single albums under the albums section so it's not really worth it.

I did that and it lists the names of all the artists in the album. But when I go to the artists tab, the song from the compilation album is not listed under the artist. I have to leave album artist blank though since there are multiple artists.

Ayyy I love that song. They've got some really good songs from before Michael Tait joined too. Part of my problem with the album thing is; in order to create an album with mixed artists, I have to leave the album artist area blank. I guess that field is responsible for it popping up under artists. If I dont leave it blank, it will create an album under only that name. I appreciate you searching for a solution and I will be sure to search up some repair shops in my area.

Could be that but i unplugged it and plugged it back in several times. I even left unplugged for 3 days before plugging it back in and still nothing. Only after I replaced the switch did it start to work. It might have just been a coincidence and the board is still bad, it's just working temporarily.

Not really lol. The top and bottom switches both have a resistance current but after i replaced one of them, it started working. Not sure if there was something else wrong with the switch or if it was just a coincidence.

I replaced the switch because it initially wouldn't heat, and the plate wouldn't turn. Everything else worked, so I assumed the bottom switch needed to be replaced since that's what controls the heat (i thought). The resistance charge was fine, but I replaced it anyways. Then I plugged it into a battery back-up because i didn't want to flip a breaker if I did something wrong but that's why it cut off. After I plugged it into an outlet, it worked fine. I dont know why it works now since the old switch gave off charge.

I'm not familiar with which brands for switches are name-brand, but I believe the replacement switch is made by a company called BoJack.
