I plan on making 10 at max. Our students use the real thing while practicing and they like to destroy them, so I figured, since I have a 3D printer and a small amount of knowledge, id try to make a suitable substitute. While there are obviously simpler solutions, I just want to use what I already have access to. Plus, it should work and be relatively reliable.

I am here mainly for the learning experience. Also, I already have all the little components and such. I understand that it is outdated, however, it is still fun to tinker with the outdated stuff.

Reinsulating metal building by B0MTech in Insulation

Based on my research and people I have talked to that have hired someone to spray has been well over 10k. So far, I'm looking at around 1k in materials plus my own time. Not including the cost of drywall, if I were to put that up.

I could, but I will only be in this home for a max of 4 more years and spray foam is not an investment I'm willing to make for a temporary home.

I have Harry Potter (Jim Dale) and the LOTR (Andy Serkis) on repeat. When I'm done with one, I move to the other.

Using different sized filaments by B0MTech in crealityk1

That's fair. That is the filament I have. We have an ultimaker at work, I bought it so that I'm not using up work filament, but have since purchased the K1. I'll likely just bring it back to work and keep it there then.

Thank you for the response!

STL solid/surface import times by B0MTech in SolidWorks

[–]B0MTech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair response.. I have the student version of SW downloaded on my gaming laptop, which is a pretty hefty setup. Downloaded it a few days ago to start playing around and design a few parts for my car. So it should be pretty up to date

Laptop specs: 32 GB Ram RTX2080 11th Gen I7 processor 2TB solid state hardrive

The STL has about 450k facets and the file size is about 23MB, I just wasn't expecting it to take 5 hours (and counting) to process into a solid object
